1988 4Runner side (top) sliding windows

Hello gents!

Trying to help a 4Runner owner in PR.

My friend has a 1988 4Runner (V6), and his rear sliding windows (both sides) frames are shot.

Is there any vendor out there that sells these window frames so we can replace them? No one has them locally, and a couple f people we've found that are parts trucks don't wish to part. He obviously don't wish to buy a whole truck for the window frames.

Anyway, any feedback on where to look for the frames, either new or used, will be MUCH appreciated.

Out here in UT the 4Runner tops are very easy to come by. They are usually had, complete, for less than $100.00

I would pick up a spare top and swap in what you need and then cut up the donor top for use as a bimini style shell.

Appreciate the feedback, but the problem is I live in PR, so shipping would kill me. Is there any way you can assist and determine If there's any way you can " pick" the parts, and I would gladly pay for them, as well as shipping?

? - talking about the Canadians at Toyota Fiberglass not being sponsors here. I'm not really giving an endorsement, except word of mouth has them pretty good with what they do (if I had the time to drive up there, I'd have a new set of rear fiberglass fenders on my 1st gen)

I feel your pain, the frames on the 4R side windows often rot out even here in TX.

I think that your best bet would probably be finding an ExPo member in UT or AZ willing to pull the parts for you for free or a modest fee. Then locate the part at a yard:
http://www.usedpartscentral.com/search_utah.htm and coordinate with them to get it for you and ship it.

Alternatively, maybe get in contact with someone in Phoenix and SLC who has a 1st gen 4Runner and wants to make a hardtop-bikini-top, then watch craigslist in those cities closely for a topper for sale (I've picked up two for free here in TX that way), and coordinate with them to pick it up and sell you the windows.

BTW, you can set up Google Alerts to watch CL pages for specific key words (you'll need a google account).
