1990 Suburban 2500 build-thing (B.U.T.T.)

Project: Big Ugly Tan Truck. I'm hoping the funny name keeps me from getting frustrated.

about me.
I'm miller, and I'm a ginger thats all you need to know for now

the truck my 2500 suburban and its progress so far. (not tan yet!)

the day I brought it home.

day after

at this point I foolishly bought a Ruff Country 6" lift kit springs/blocks
as well as 2 37" H1 wheels/tires by Trail worth FAB

took off the side steps!

and thats how it sat for a little over 9 Months while I trained and deployed.

while I was gone I bought a snorkel. Some love them some hate them. I like the look. I do plan to do an exhaust snorkel as well.

When I got home splurged I bought a 6" Tuff Country EZ ride all spring Lift after a bit more research

as well as the other re-centered H1 rims and tires from trail worthy Fab however i sprang for the rock guards after a bit more research (pic if the lip and tire sitting on the stock stuff)

both rims and tires installed.

First trip out.

this pic was on the way back absolutely stuffed the front tires in the front fender with sway bar still on and not even under full flex.. TRIM TIME.!

time to strip and trim.

hole patched and sealed (Galvi so no rust)

where I currently am

why the Tan Part of the name.. well

slow process between work, kids, wife and money ha but i figured it was finally time to post a build thread I've followed a lot of builds on here and gotten inspiration from all of them. plans. roof rack tube bumpers rock sliders. interior.

thoughts?

mine's going slow too.
looking forward to see where these suburban projects go.
i picked mine up a few weeks ago. sort of a basket case engine wise but i think i have it whipped into shape now.
take lots of pix!

As for now, yes I'm going to spray it. The paint was inexpensive so if i mess it up no huge consequences. That and I figure anything is better than the super pealing paint that was on there

I'm going to use the GCI paint its supposed to be pretty thick and simulate the CARC paint the military uses I got the latest desert tan from the MATVs it won't be all sand like humvee's I'm going to do a sand body with a black grill, door handles, mirrors and any bolt on stuff (snorkel both exhaust and intake are going to be black bumpers will be black same as the roof rack just because I need some contrast. The original idea was to do monstaliner preditor green but the amount of it I was going to need was about 2 times the price of what I'm doing without the tint. And the wife wanted it painted sooner than later

Ha! The time with your Little Helper makes any build a worthy investment of time! My boys just want to be like Dad, and I am sure it is the same for your son. I love Suburbans! I thing that they are a perfect rig in general. Keep building and posting the progress. Cant wait to see her when she is done!

Side note: Thank you for your service sir!
