I've decided to pare down my belongings and travel the world by bicycle. My van is the last thing to go and possibly hardest to part with. I had a buyer for it but the deal fell through last week so I thought I would post it here as well as CL (http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/5260238783.html more pictures) The van is in Seattle and has clean title.
1990 Vanagon Syncro 3 knob (Front/rear lockers and de-coupler)
Van was rebuilt 50k ago.
Powered by 2 liter Zetec (Ford) Double overhead cam motor (more power, more torque, inexpensive parts at local auto parts store, OBD11, and a lot more reliable over stock VW motor) and a huge community with company support. Bostig.com
Full lockers front and rear, including de-coupler so van can be driven in 2 wheel drive saving on wear and gas mileage. Transaxle, front diff and de-coupler, were all rebuilt and upgraded by Daryl of AA Transaxle. Transaxle also has limited slip diff installed (Peloquin). 6qt oil pan with bung for turbo upgrade and skidplate.
Suspension is Old Man Emu shocks and struts with progressive springs, sitting on steel VW rims (offset correct) and 215 75 15 BF Goodrich KM2. (including spare) Full set of Blizzak winter tires(5)
Interior is grey. Buckets seats are covered with Wet Okole's (black and grey) and they come with armrest. Rubber floor mat, front and rear. Bench seat folds flat to a bed. This model of Vanagon came with rear facing passenger seats behind front seats. Dash is black and in great condition.
Van has house power from a 85ah Full River AGM battery, Blue Seas Charging Relay, Blue Seas control panel, West marine 400W inverter. This set-up powers the fridge, laptop use, ect for 3 days. (Fridge not included)
Panels of van are insulated and sound deadened.
Exterior is original paint and shows wear. There are pinhead spots of rust starting to appear but nothing major other than a spot just below slider. Undercarriage is rust free. This van is a west coast van so it has not been subject to road salt.
Van comes with an ARB awning, Thule 600 cargo box and hitch.
The list of new parts also includes: SS coolant lines, radiator, front and rear heater fans and condenser, wheel bearings, hoses, plus so much more. I have all receipts.
I've owned this van sense 1999 and have always said I would never part with it. But circumstances and opportunities arise, and the sell of this van will help start my next adventure. This is a fantastic rig. Runs excellent, drives excellent, is extremely capable, very reliable and will take you just about anywhere you want to go. These are rare vehicles and even more rare outfitted with full lockers and de-coupler. Transaction will be in person and cash only. Price is $22,500 OBO
