As incredible as this build is, it would not be eligible for importation into the USA because of the engine and frame swap. The vehicle must have the matching vin on the frame and the engine must be the same model as was originally installed from the factory. If this were an import from Australia, it might have the Isuzu powerplant but those vehicles did not come equipped with the r380 transmission...

So even though it has now reached 25 years of age, this remains a pipe dream for many of us.

We imported this rig from England to Canada and it wasn't easy. For the motivated buyer I feel like most hurdles can be surpassed such as those above, and aren't we all just a bunch of dreamers making our dreams come true??

I don't know ??? I think if you can afford it you'll figure out how to bring it here ! Maybe an apartment in the Vaocouver area? Registered there , just driving here to see the sights EH !!! The OP is right !!! Dream big and you will always figure a way to reach it !
The Finding is for the seekers ! Not for those who (want) or (need) . But only the SEEKERS! Matthew 7:7 who knew Matthew was an Overlander with a Dream.

I've seen this thing out at Whitewater a couple times, without the camper! Even my wife is a big fan, and she's a die-hard toyota chick!! out of reach for us, but GLWS!!

Ah yes, we have all seen what happens when folks with more money than common sense try to import a rig that is not completely legal in the states, go watch some of the youtube videos of them getting crushed if you need a refresher. Still a very cool rig though, just can't license it down here.

How do you guys think I feel? I live in Vancouver and would register this thing in Canada! Logistics is not a problem for me, I just can't afford it :) Stupid Canadian dollar....... I can dream though.

I did a bit of research, I was just curious to see if this vehicle actually is eligible for importation into the US. I felt like some people in this thread were being a bit dramatic. But I was wrong, I found this page and it seems to confirm what others have said... here is the page I saw: https://eastcoastrover.com/imports.html After reading that I'd be scared as hell to import it. That one photo of the defender being crushed into a cube made me almost throw up.
