I am considering selling my 1992 Range Rover Classic. I just don’t have enough headroom to get a comfortable (I am too tall) seating position and I feel guilty about modifying it from its near stock condition by swapping the seats.
This Range Rover is a good running and driving example and I use it for running into town, driving to the airport, and trail wheeling/ mountain adventures. Since I purchased it have changed all the fluids with the exception of the coolant, replaced the brake master with a good used one from the UK, replaced the distributor, spark plugs, wires, air filter, replaced the stock springs with medium duty springs from OME, as well as all four shocks, the front pads and rotors, replaced the power steering lines, got new BGF KO2s in a near stock size, replaced an aftermarket radio with a new one, installed a set of rock sliders (I kept the original plastic rocker pieces), installed a transmission skid plate, and front and rear diff guards. The body and frame are in good condition with minimal rust for a Classic from this era, with the exception of the front inner fenders and the front wells (this is quite common) and a spot on the rear passenger quarter. The headliner has recently been replaced, and the seats are in good condition.
I also pulled the rear shafts and at some point someone swapped this range rover to 24 splines in the rear. I haven't confirmed but I suspect the front has been swapped as well (the outers are 24 spline, but haven't pulled the inners out yet).
Both electric seats work but the driver’s side switches sometimes require a little fiddling to get them to work. The only other electric issues are sometimes the window control unit needs shaken to get the driver window to roll down, for some reason only one of the speakers had wires ran to the old aftermarket radio, the ABS system is not functioning, the AC system turns on but I think its empty and doesn't blow cold. I have a pre-purchase inspection from JC’s 4x4 that I’ll share that details the ABS system faults.
For driving around, I have the ABS computer disconnected. Current mileage is 262,000 miles and will go up. I am asking $12,500. I’d be open to trades for a Land Rover Discovery 1, Discovery 2, LR3, LR4, a L322, or a pre-1975 Chevy Suburban or international Travel All.
