1993 Toyota pickup adventure/daily build and TDI swap

A couple months back my 97 vw passat tdi lost a diff pin ruining the transmission, so I thought "oh boy go buy a toyota pickup and swap engine into it" so with the idea I set towards finding a truck.
I settled on a 93 toyota pickup located in arkansas that had minimal rust, a transmission but no engine, a friend in the area went and checked out the truck for me and gave me a thumbs up, so a trip was planned, truck purchased and brought back.
The goal is 35-40mpg, and go anywhere, with some better comforts than my 75 fj40 (which goes anywhere and back, if there is enough fuel lol). Anyway nobody cares about text so heres a bunch of pics.
Specs.
97 1z tdi with gt2256 turbo custom intake and exhaust manifolds, custom engine mounts (obvious) rubber mounts are from an 87 volvo 740, dorman ac delete kit pulley was too big so I had to custom make a smaller one, oil pan had to be modified to clear the front differential, steering stabilizer mount had to be dropped for clearance, used a stock intercooler out of a 96 saab 900, ammo can turned into air box to be connected to a snorkel.
Interior plans are as follows, double din android unit with gps, bluetooth, and too many features lol, since the donor engine is obd2 I picked up an obd2 blue tooth reader to display engine parameters on the stereo and no need for gauges! Also threw away stock bench seat in favor of bucket seats, rebuild door panels and covered in black suede, lots of sound deadening material, building a custom center console for switches to turn on all the aux accessories, compressor, lights, winch control etc.
Exterior mods, ranch style front bumper, viper 9500lb winch, custom rock sliders, custom bed rack for RTT, smittybilt roof top tent, still need to build rear bumper, and storage setup for bed. Anyway lots of missed stuff, but on to pics!

Wow. Awesome progress. I seriously considered this when my 3.0 gave up the ghost a couple years ago until I started searching for a decent TDI. Those suckers are expensive! Can't wait to see what you make of this.

I built a 90` as well. ahu tdi with a rover manual Injection pump, Passat turbo and larger nozzles. Pulled well.

what's the blue car with white stripe on bottom? Looks like a Datsun Z
Good eye, it's a 72 datsun 240z

Sweet, I read through your thread awhile back, I have an early 22re clutch in now, hoping it lasts for a little while, I bought the larger 22re clutch initially but didn't know the flywheels are different, so now I will leisurely get the newer flywheel and have it ready.

You could use the larger 5vz aisin clutch to hold more torque. just have to machine the flywheel a little.
