These rigs are designed and built to be full-time 4x4. If you want a part-time 4x4, maybe look at a Sequoia. In any event, that price seems a bit high. Carfax?

Why would I want a Sequoia? Selective 4wd is not a reason to throw away all of the good things that a Cruiser has over a Sequoia. I just am surprised that it's not a factory option on a rig that also includes front and rear selectable lockers. Full time 4wd also makes it tough to tow on a dolly if you ever needed to get it home.

FYI, I have the slee part time kit with 35's and 4:88 gears. With some fuel in the reserve tank on a recent trip, I averaged about 13mpg.

You just have to pull the the rear shaft... 4 bolts and a piece of wire to tie it up out of the way.

That is only for US versions , if you look at FJ80 in venezuela (south america next to colombia) they do come part time 2wd with the 4wd option, they also produced them till 2008 ( only country in the world that toyota did that) and you can find more stick shift than automatic. I don't know if in canada you can find the 4wd part time option.
I'm trying to see if I can buy one from Venezuela and have it shipped here, the only problem is that an 08 goes for around $95000

Referring to my owners manual for a 4Runner (that has the 2WD option), you're not supposed to tow it on a dolly---only flat bed truck. Even with it in 2WD and N-position on the t-case lever, it can still mess up the drivetrain. This is per the manual. Never towed my vehicles on a dolly, so I can't tell you if it does cause damage or not.

But why are you even worrying about getting a tow? It's a Toyota, not a Ford. :sombrero:

for safety i always remove the drive shaft for the axle being towed, doesn't take long. not that i regularly use one of those pos car dolly's:)

Unless it's a diesel! 1hd-t = 24mpg

Hmmm...you might want to get that tuned. I was hitting 26 plus and then decided to dump the cold start device because of the ticking noise driving me insane........now 30 plus mpg!! :victory:

Sorry for the hyjack,

regards

Dave
