Ask to have it tested by a mechanic to look for all items of concern. May cost you to do that but if he's willing it may be a good ride.

Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
I'd almost guarantee it was rebuilt as cheaply as possible to be resold before something bad goes in that motor. It's quite common with those motors and i've seen it personally multiple times. Ask for receipts for the parts installed and receipt for labor, probably non existent or rebuilt with junkyard parts. Tightened to spec with a 1/2"DR ratchet and a 20" pipe for more leverage. :Wow1:

Most sellers don't know what junkyards are...that's more of a hobbyist resource. And its nothing typical with these engines at all - it's any interference engine where the timing belt isn't replaced at the proper interval (or fails early). He could just as easily had a mechanic fix it. Ask for the receipts, as mentioned...that will give you your answer. :)

Thx , all for reply, according to seller, his friend did the work, so there is no actual mechanics receipts.

Do a compression and leakdown test, and pull off the cover to check the condition of the timing belt. How it was repaired or who did the work is irrelevant; if the engine is healthy, it's healthy. That's all that matters really. Good luck!
