What kind of fuel economy do those see?
We have a 1996 M1078 LMTV. They get about 7-8 mpg loaded up driving 45 mph.

45?
That is to slow for the freeways
With the gearing , probably not much faster. Bring earplugs and a kidney belt.
It's a military vehicle. It's governed. It'll go faster.
My M38A1 and my ex US Navy 15 ton cruise comfortably at 58 mph.
We are going to swap tires on the 15 ton so it will do the low 60's and hit the governor jut under 80 mph
My US Navy semi tractor will hit the governor at the triple digit Mark.
So my point is military vehicles do not have to be dangerously slow on the freeway.
It's been about 15 years but when the Seabies did their training at Fort Leonardwood, MO with us Army their tractor trailer was only military in it's flat Grey paint. Other than that it was a 2x6 international rig just like many of the trucks you see delivering soft drinks to convenience stores today. If this is the truck you are referring to, I wouldn't call it "military"
I can agree that the LMTV's and FMTV's can cruise easily at highway speeds and comfortably. I put over 50,000 miles on a tractor trailer variety in Iraq in 2003. I would love to have one as an Expo rig with a camper set up on the back. The only thing I would want is better AC and a ton of heat insulation on the floor. You sit right over the engine and it gets pretty damn hot.

I have to wear gloves when I drive the 15 ton for any time in the summer so my hands don't freeze, the AC is on its lowest setting.
I have a lot of the records on the 15 ton and it served in both gulf wars. Is all wheel drive, air mobile, and hoist able for loading on ships. It has hit the beach from landing craft.
I have not been able to find out anything about the tractor. It is to heavy to have been used as a civilian truck and it does have a air locked axle.
