Okok let’s get on with the update. Filled w coolant and the truck starts right up and idles about 1500-1700 rpm. Gave it a rev, and BAM! Clack clack clack, *smoke from the hood*
Killed it. Popped the hood and saw this:
Apparently if you leave the fan off, you need to tighten the fan bolts so that pulley stays in place... who woulda thought? Guess I was excited to start it. The smoke was one of the belts being melted after the pulley came off and started rubbing.
Glad I made the mistake because it made me see this:
Broken alternator. Looks like it’s been broken a while. Luckily I have a parts truck with a good one. While swapping the alternator, I saw this:
Fresh oil drip out the front of the engine. Anyone have input? Am I going to have to take the entire front of the engine apart to find that leak?
Also, truck runs like poop when the MAF is plugged in, so I gotta figure that out.
