1997 f350 diesel 4x4 price?

there's a 1995 ex-cab dually for sale near me, that is for sale for $5950.00.

My first response, is "you have to be kidding".

I don't care if that's the going rate, there's no way I'd pay that much for a 1ton ford.

I guess your's is different due to it's having the 7.3L (6.0?) diesel. That was quite a markup when it was sold new, I'd think.

OMG, 11500?!! I take it back. NO freakin' way would I pay that much. He's just tryin' to recoupe his costs after having to throw a new tranny in, probably.

Maybe call him and tell him what pricing info. you found?

Nicely state that you really like the truck, but high book is $7500. It'd be a bad deal for you, cuz you'd be payin' way more for the truck than it'll ever be worth, or that a credit union would ever give you a check for.

diesel tranny builds are upwards of $5000, for heavy towing or pulling. might be a low mileage truck. then again he might be crazy. i hate it when people selling trucks don't list the necessary info.

mine looks just like that except the 5.8 not the diesel. I bought it last september. It needed tires. It was $4000 and had low miles for a 14 year old truck. This is canada where everything costs more.

Yeah, no way. That is what I paid for my Super Duty when I bought it in 07 BEFORE the price of diesel went to the moon. No way a basically "stock" OBS Ford is worth that. If it had Camburg, or AutoFab suspension, BTS trans, redone engine... serious upgrades, okay, he has a little more room to negotiate. At that point, he isnt listing to the General public, its a niche market.

I would be happy if I could get that for 2001 Cummins.....and book on my truck is 15-16k.....

I offered the guy 8k he said he has turned down offers for more than 10k . This truck is very clean thats why I even offered him 8k . I dunno maybee he will change his mind.

No, he wont. Some people think they have a chunk of pure gold, just because its theirs. If he honestly things its worth 4k over book, he better give a good reason. and offers over 10k? Riiight. Either he is bluffing, or, there are some fools. Hey, I like a clean truck just as much as the next guy. But, at what point to you consider a truck worth more than it really is?

It looks like a very clean and cared for truck and the square body crew cab diesels can be hard to find in that shape at times--trust me! For an asking price like that I'm sure he has some (a lot it seems) amount of sentimental value added into the price tag.

If you really like the truck offer him high book. The new transmission does nothing for resale unless it has a significant amount of aftermarket upgrades done to it even then its not a deal breaker by any means. Remember its still an old truck its tough to pay top dollar and find out it needs repairs--I've been there and its a major let down. I would have a trustworthy/reputable mechanic check fuel pressure and condition of the injection system and glowplug system too as that can get really spendy really fast! Let us know what you decide :bike_rider:
