1997 GMC 3500 Ambulance Camper

Just joined the forum. Recently bought a 1997 GMC Ambulance with a gas 454 big block and only 55,000 miles. Going to turn it into a camper/motorcycle hauler. It was used by the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Unfortunately they pulled the red lights and inverter before I got it.

think there is enough Ambo rigs that it would be wise to have a specific forum for Ambo Conversions in here.

I'm still waiting to hear back about a Subscribed Thread notification problem, but not much luck there either.

 Sorry for the derail... I'm outta here!

Actually started making block off plates.

Debating whether to just gut the back and start over. The auction might have cut too many wires since not much is working back there.

Managed to score a set of bed/couch combos that fold into the wall from a Thor toy hauler off Craigslist. They're in great shape.

Good job on the plates! Are these stainless or polished aluminum?

I think these look so much better than the ones people make out of diamond deck aluminum, or painted plates, or even worse...painted diamond deck plates.

I recently found this site. I'm picking up a 1994 E350/ ambulance on 1/16/'17. I bought it from a small town in northern Idaho, its had an easy life and is in incredible condition. Love the 7.3 and the care its had. Records from day 1 so it should be a great platform.
I'm a lot better at motorcycle restoration, painting, welding, and hopefully ambulance to RV conversions than forum interaction. That said, I hope I'm doing this right. Any ideas on converting the right rear corner storage area (outside access) to a shower? I know its small but Atving in the dunes, you need a shower.
I'm thinking a portable toilet, small sink, stove, microwave, solar, maybe new paint with more of a high end Class A paint scheme just to de-ambulance it a bit. Oh, and a nose cone over the cab to make it look less boxy. Any ideas. Oh, one more, a comfortable bed for 2.
Thanks in advance,
Tucker6606
