1997 Montero SR build

Yeah I was thinking that. Or bare minimum, as sad as it is there are junkyards filled with them around here. I can just cannabalize a few of them for some things.

You are exactly right. Thats a great looking set up. The guy I bought mine from actually sent the same exact pics of yours to show it could ride 37s. You wouldnt happen to live in Ga would you?? ha ha

Nope, that truck is back in indiana somewhere with a friend of mine, i live in arizona.

Ah ok. Honestly, I doubt I ever go over a 33. 35s at the absolute most. I just want a little nor ground clearance. Even in deep red clay, anything over 35 is overkill unless you're in the mud races/bogs. Naturally I'll see a lot of mud in my adventures but never anything bad enough to justify something bigger than 33/12.5 or 35/12.5 Trail Grapplers. The lift to me is more about big rocks, and sex appeal hahaha

Montero

Did you pick this up off of Atlanta craigslist? I saw what looked remarkably similar listed and was interested. Currently looking for a 2.5 gen with low miles but i loved the look with the huge rubber.

Yes I did! Yeah I liked it a lot. Once I got to it and actually saw what needed to be fixed and what didn't, I didn't mind paying the guy.

Like Awmaster, I too was hoping to pick this up Saturday, but said it was sold. However, I'm glad to see it went to someone on the forum, and am looking forward to the build, as I'm still in the market for a Montero or first gen Runner.

Haha I'm sorry for snagging it you guys.

In other news though, I found where I am getting my bumpers from. For you guys local to me here in Georgia, www.bluelakeoffroad.com actually does custom offroad bumpers for all kinds of vehicles including the montero. From base line to fully decked out, the price line isn't much different than ARB. Today I'll be rewiring all the speakers and installing a new condenser fan. Pics will follow later today.

So the fan won't be here until next week. But I did work out my stereo issues. It took a few hours, most of which involved figuring out where exactly he had wired this crap up. Ran a nice bundle through the paneling up to the stereo. No pics today, was a little too frustrated for that. I'll post pics tomorrow evening. All in all though, I do have music again!

Those bumpers look pretty sweet! Especially that rear! I wish they made them for the 3rd gen!

, after a lot of cussing, I managed to get it in. Hooked it up, cranked truck and turned on ac. In twenty minutes it didn't cycle. Not once.

Maybe a fuse is missing or something but I can't find a diagram for the fuse block any where. Little help or advice?

That's a good lookin Monty, would you mind filling me in on what was trimmed to fit the wheels? Looks like the last owner just removed front bumper corners. I ask because I am going with 15x10s and 33x12.50s myself, though I do plan to add spacers and do a torsion crank.

There was some cutting done to the inner fender well also. I'm not too familiar with Monteros so I'm not sure what he cut away. But here are pictures.

I don't think there would have to be any cutting or bumper removal if the torsion bars are cranked up to level the truck out. That's just my assumption by looking at it with 33s though.
