Howdy, I have been slowly working on converting my ’98 Burb’ into an Overland RV.
I am adding the camper top this weekend and thought you all might like some photos.
Interior photos will be coming in the next few days.

Haha, definitely was not going for the “hearse” look, I installed the fan and cargo rails today so hopefully that should help. The plan is to mount a Rotopax gas tank to one side of the camper top and then mount a set of traction mats to the other side. Got the top insulated as well, I just have to install the vapor barrier and then I can start building the interior. I have a bunch of scrap pieces of Beetle Kill Pine wood that I think will look great inside of this thing,

Oil eater.
Do you compromise the body rigidity when you remove the factory lid along with the horizontal supports?

I’m sure it doesn‘t help anything, but it is a 2500 Suburban and I have been lead to believe that the 2500 has a stronger frame. I left everything from about 4” behind the B-Pillar all the way up to the windshield, and I left a good portion of metal in the rear so I haven’t completely butchered it, there is still a lot of structural support in the roof.

Here are the wall and ceiling panels for the Camper Top. 5B53D820-B997-429E-94AC-51986166C0DA.jpeg
I am a Colorado native and we have a pretty bad Pine Beetle problem out here, so I thought that using reclaimed beetle kill would give the camper a perfect Colorado vibe.

This is the “hidden” TV box. When the box is closed it will be hidden by the ceiling, (pictures to follow).

I thought this was 1500 1/2 ton suburban? Is the body trim not accurate?

I can't load the pics fully on my phone to see the door emblems legibly but there was a light duty 2500 Suburban that was 6 lug and basically a "heavy half." Had a 6 lug 9.5" semi-floating rear axle and stiffer springs. Basically set up like a F44 Z71 truck.

The interior of the camper top it almost completely finished, just need to make trim pieces and figure out a way to mount some vinyl records to the walls (I’m gonna use them as art, but also to listen to).
