1998 LC Need shock and spring advice. HELP!

Good day from SW Florida. We own a 1998 LC. As a family we are venturing out more for camping as our children are now older. We have noticed that the rear of our rig sags a bit when loaded. We are planning a trip from Naples to Maine next summer. We will be adding a roof top carrier and I am sure a bit more weight in back as well. Fridge, gear...... My plan is to replace our tires with Mich LTX MS2 285-75-16. I am unsure of the life expectancy of shocks but our are original 1998 shocks have 180,000 miles on them. Now for the question......I would like to replace the stock shocks with a shock that will give us a very comfortable ride on the highway and slightly better light off-road than our stock shocks. Also can we replace our stock springs with a OME spring and still have the comfortable ride as a DD and mild off-road? I don't want to turn our rig in to a crazy off-road rig. Reality is that we will go off-road very little but would like to know that if we did that our suspension is better than stock.

Thank you for your time and expertise!

U have plenty of options. OME is a nice shock and spring. U can buy the spring based on the weight u will carry. Light, medium, and heavy, etc. give kurt from cruiser outfitters a call...he will dial u in

I don't know a ton about suspension, but from what I understand, ome is essentially the set at forget, super durable option. Then you have the more expensive brands like icon, King, fox, etc that give a better ride, but a higher price and need a little more maintence. Still very durable though

Just put OME on my "new" 96 LC, which had original suspension. Night and day. I have an FJC with OME as well and that is my daily driver. The suspension is very comfortable and handles great.

i will say OME is a good bet as well. or maybe something like ICON if u want to spend a little more. But Old Man Emu is proven and has a great ride quality for alot less then the high dollar stuff.. i work a lot with bypass shocks, coil-overs, long travel and even on my Long Travel 4runner i had OME springs on the rear.

OME is the go-to for TLC suspension. There is a reason 90% of us use them. Call Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters and he can get you exactly the right spring and shock combo for whatever your intended use. He's done it all dozens of times and knows what will work best.
