1998 Montero - Gen 2.5 - How to remove rear accessory socket?

I need to relocate the rear accessory socket, and I can't figure out how it's attached to the plastic bulkhead. There is a black plastic ring around the front side, and the backside has a fluted metal body that is slightly wider than the hole. It seems to be installed from the rear? Do I just snap off the black plastic trim ring/cap thingie?

The FSM is silent on this.

You're going to have to pull the plastic trim off a little.

Got it. The fluted metal shroud itself unscrews once you disconnect the leads. Unfortunately, the leads are too short to re-route where I want to put it ( where the rear seatbelt was). Since the power is only on with the key, I decided to run new power leads from the battery.... Until I ran into the obstacle of how get through the Firewall. There are no grommets! How do you get through the firewall? Even the steering column is a solid metal collar. Bizarre.

I ran all of my wire through the hole located on the passenger side firewall, under the ABS module.
