I've seen a few legitimate 98+ trucks in the US legally. It is super rare though. Loopholes and fancy paperwork. I would trust roverdude. He's been around long enough to know the ins and outs. I'm assuming he's just advertising for the owner though.

Even if its some how legal. Dont get tagged by a texting Nanny driving a Mini Van. All bets are off when the insurance companies figure out what you were in. Self insured, and have a umbrella policy for personal injury coverage. Or you could be up crap creek with out a paddle or defibulator.

there are 1 year exemptions but must be destroyed or exported after. import broker loses bond if proof of export/crush not provided.

there are no long term US military exemptions and there are no embassy work exemptions.

Any state that requires a physical VIN inspection to register the vehicle (not Florida) may be tricky. VIN not found is interesting convo

Look up Europa G Wagons from 1999 - they are legal in the US
Perhaps it did go through all the hurdles but who knows?
A buyer needs to do a lot of homework

Europa paid a ton of money to get they legalized and the cost reflected it, then MB brought them in at significant less cost.
