don't want to start a tire argument but I high suggest straying away from that tire if you plan on using it year-round. Are you on a 16" wheel or 18" wheel?
I'm gonna agree but add something to your statement. I had BFG AT KOs on a vehicle while I was in CT and it was merely OK in the snow. It wasn't a liability, I did not feel unsafe with them on my vehicle, however after driving in the snow with other better tires (Duratracs come to mind) I realized that they were okay, but not the best. However I use, and love the same tires out here in a mostly dry environment. 60 percent of my driving is on normal roads, 30 percent on unpaved but hardpacked dirt roads and only 10 percent completely "offroad" and they do quite well in all those conditions.
As for size, 245/75R16 would be a good size for an standard vehicle suspension, but personally I'd get a TF +2 inch lift and just put on some 265/75R16s.
