Nice design and work. From a structural perspective, I would have liked to seen a bar on the backside that ties the upper vertical area to the end of the horizontal area. With the weight of the tire and that much leverage hanging out there, I can see the potential of that bending/failing at some point. I do tend to overbuild things but almost never have had failures of anything I have built. YMMV

If you are talking about the aluminum section it is designed to sandwich the sides of the tire and it can still roll into place. The tire is a snug/ light press fit into the carrier. The two piece wheel studs are wider than the tire. That is the reason for the lowprofile shape. The weight of the tire rides on the bumper so the carrier only holds the weight when it is swung open. The tire and wheel is 200lbs.

Ah, perfect then. Seen too many builds where the end isn't supported in the closed position and folks don't realize how much dynamic loads are place on things while driving down the road.

Major update to the 7.3

New: Borg Warner SXE turbo 363/68 .91, bellowed T4 mount up pipes, riffraff billet 3” intake plenums, cnc fab hpop lines, riffraff braided fuel lines, fuel bowl reseal.

After adding new up pipes, turbo,intake, fuel lines and high pressure lines I drove the truck for awhile with the stock tuning. I added a hydra with the 65hp performance tune. The truck went from being a dog to slamming you back in the seat even with the big 335/80/20 tires.

Tires always makes these things go from mmmm... to I WANT ONE!!! 7.3L in this beast too!!! want a trade?!

@60toyetero I might consider a trade. The 7.3 runs awesome after the upgrades (no boost leaks, new turbo, intake and php tuning). Everyone gets excited about 7.3s, but if they are in stock form they usually need some maintenance and upgrades which adds up quick. FTE forums is a great resource with some real 7.3 experts.

Man I love this truck! I've got a 2001 F450 7.3 and they do share some traits! I had started with a Donaldson open air filter but it was too loud so I went the Ford severe duty intake and I've been happy with the increase in filtration and airflow and it's much more quiet. I did open up a hole on the front shroud to increase flow. Did you do anything to your air intake side? Also wondering how those MPTs are doing as far as balance. They are noisy on mine but that's fine. Just a tiny bit of wobble. So I'm looking at Centramatic balancers.

Also just a tiny bit of caution on the Hydra, I put it on and I'm pretty sure I burnt my torque converter on some hot hills this summer in 40hp towing mode. That could also be because it was before I replaced my cooling system and pulleys on the front of the engine. Can't wait to see your swap to the manual!

I have the S&B intake with a modified piece of stainless tubing and silicone elbow to work with the T4 turbo mount. This lets me retain the crankcase vent. The standard t4 intakes are just a piece of metal tubing.
I fixed some boost leaks and downpipe leaks with the turbo swap and my wife noticed the engine is quieter.

My mpts could use a rotation. The fronts are starting to cup slightly but not bad. It runs awesome with the hydra and this turbo. No smoke on the php 65 tune.

I’m excited about a manual but not excited about tearing it apart that far or having it down that long. Next big purchase for that is a clutch and flywheel.
