The recommendation is from a program we use at work.
Most oil supplies will have a look up program .eg lube net.
Dont forget oils have sum what changed since 1999 lol

I follow the factory recommendations from the service manual. There is a digital copy floating around here somewhere. Hopefully SkiFreak or someone chimes in with it soon. The only deviation I make from factory recs is on the Rear diffferential. I use two large tubes of FORD friction modifier back there to prevent binding.

It has been remarkably reliable. We keep pushing the envelope with it taking it into more and more rugged terrain. In the fall we went to the most remote area in the continental US-the Maze district of Canyonlands. It was Extremely rugged. Fido stuck out amidst all the Rubicons and Lifted toyotas! Was great!
