El Gringo Spectacular!
LOL...that's what I thought! Anyone sailing from OZ to Cali want to add a bit of ballast to the boat? $1700 AU$...isn't that about $1200 US....what a friggin' deal!

There are currently some Australian tax incentives to use LPG gas and that may be the reason for the conversion. I think that the shipping would be astronomical for something over 1,000 lbs.

I know of a 1HD-T in a truck that has been written off on THIS SIDE of the big pond!
This is my daughters boyfriends truck. The insurance has written it off and he is buying it back for salvage.
Not yet sure on his intentions but he has discussed parting it out as well as selling it as salvage to whoever wants.
I was there when the truck was rolled as well as at the recovery. You can see pic's of me and my youngest kid as well as my destroyed canoe! The truck still runs fine and if it were mine I'd swap on an FJ80 LHD body and drive it.

What a strange concept for those of us in the US, dumping a 1HZ to fit a V8...

Not so strange, i think you'll find that the V8 he is going to will be the 6.5 Chev V8 Diesel, this is a common mod here, and cost around $10,000 including engine, or he's building a comp vehicle and a 350 V8 Chev is the prefered engine.

He's probably towing something big (ie) off shore fishing boat or large Offroad van/trailer.

Damn, I bet shipping from Aussie land would really kill that deal.

Probably not. I would guess you are at about $1100 for the motor and probably $2500 or less for shipping. Still not all that bad.

Cruiser guy, I thought he was either going to rebuild it or swap the engine in something else. That canoe looked beautiful.
