1st Gen Sequoia Tailgate Liftgate Water

I bought my 2003 new. Was always dry inside. The other morning the carpet was wet near the back of the car. Under padding too.
I removed the trim inside the tailgateand found evidence of water draining thru the access panels. I removed these and will be replacing the gaskets.
i went out during a rainstorm, looked inti the access panel openings and was amazed at the amount of water running into the tailgate. Of course some was splashing thru the access port opening which will be sealed with the new gaskets.

There are drain holes in both corners of the tailgate and I assured they were open. The outer gasket that runs on the rear window is reasonably new (dealer attempt to fix wet carpet). Looking at the design of the rear window and gaskets, it seems as this water flowing inside the tailgate is correct.

Has anybody else seen this water inside the tailgate when it rains or get hose tested?

Tundra solutions had some posts about this issue. The posts affirmed my thoughts. Some new gasket material for the access panels, replacement trim fasteners with a new gasket to hold the trim in place and probably some non-hardening permatex in select locations sounds like my carpet will stay dry for a while longer.
