I am selling my sleeping and storage platform for a 1st gen tacoma, extra cab, 6ft bed. This was professionally built as a prototype by someone on this forum (cannot remember the name) to be mass reproduced but that never materialized. It is built out of 1/2" birch, CNC cut, glued and screwed, with southco latches, and quality slides on the drawer. I've had this for about 8 years and after all those years it remains solid and sturdy. The carpet lining is in good shape, and I've recently replaced a few sections. This system is super functional and efficient. Pretty much every inch is utilized allowing for incredible amount of ORGANIZED storage. The top is about 1.5" under the bed rail, creating a flat surface for sleeping, depending on the type of shell it can be very comfortable and roomy. I have camped and slept countless of nights in this, and it has been a great setup. The cutout on the right fits a 47qt cooler, and the one on the left is perfect for tools. I made an aluminum plate that fits in the cooler spot to fill in the gap for sleeping, when the cooler is removed. The plate slides under the pull out drawer for storage. The wings on either side are great for easy access to items commonly used like air hose and recovery gear.
All the hatches are reachable if a shell with windoors is utilized, windoors are a must for this to be fully effective. I used this with a snugtop that I am also selling, see separate post. Only reason for selling is that I am getting rid of the tacoma.
I am located in San Diego, this cannot be shipped so must be picked up, it breaks down into 4 pieces.
Look out for other for sale items from this truck.
