1st Gen vs. 2nd Gen Tacoma (Bed Size)

Does anybody know the difference in the (access cab) bed size with the gen 1 vs. gen 2?

Specifically I want to know if products like the FWC Eagle camper would fit either/or well enough. I can't find any pictures with the FWC on a 1st Gen.

While I've got your ear, is there any reason I should opt for the 2005-10 model over the 2001-04 for something like a Pan American trip while hauling a FWC? :sombrero:

The only thing I can think of that the 2nd gen has over the first gen for extended travel would be comfort. Oh and power. Other than that.......?

x2, plus a more robust IFS front end and MUCH better seats on the TRD version

The short beds on 05+ and 04- Tacomas are approximately 5ft long x 5ft wide (I forget the exact inches but I can measure mine if you need to know).

McTaco and I did a side by side measurement at the San Diego Meet and Greet recently.

I went from a 95 toyota pick up to a 2010 taco access cab and use my 1993 four wheel camper in both ( ranger 2 model ) I needed to raise the camper a couple inches as the new box rails are higher. also the box is narrower in the 2010 in front of the wheel wells I cant fit my extra battery there anymore. Other differences are the box is made from composite so you can not drill in and use the same supports, I got a metal support fabbed up like the one 4wc sells for this purpose. I also mounted bump stops on the front of the camper to keep it 2.5 inches from the front of the box ...

Oh and the box is extremely slippery without a bed mat.

Hope this helps
