Hi I've been lurking here for a few years. I've been without a 4x4 for a while. I had a 97 F-350 with a Four Wheel Pop Up shell I was setting up for dry camping. I've also had a few Suzuki Samurais. You can read a little about the F-350 on my previous post.
I had been looking for another 4x4 for a couple months. I wanted somethng I could remove the dors and put down the windshield. I wound up buying a base model CJ8. I won't be able to pick it up until the second week in July. The CJ8 is stock except for a mild lift, 33" tires and winch. The exterior has been coated with spray on bed liner type material. It has very little rust but is far from pristine, which is all the better! I can hear it begging to be a trail camper.
I kept all my tent camping gear after purchasing the FWC. I also kept all of my recovery equiptment and FWC Grandby shell along with the custom cabinets for the FWC, on board air compressor, 1000 amp battery isolator, load management center, 00 battery cables for camper batteries and gas fired ESPAR heater.
I'm looking for ideas for some type of light wieght removeable cap for the back of the CJ. Something that would not interfer with the stock 2 door hardtop. It needs to be simple, can be built with basic power tools and minimal welding.
Ideally it would be nice if I could cut down the FWC to fit the CJ8 but realistically I don't think it would be practicle.
Thanks

also go over to www.cj-8.com/forum and post up over there.
Its a great bunch of guys, some cross post over here.

I've not seen any camper shell type tops on an 8, most go ahead and run a full hard top or soft top.
