2.7 towing

so dose aney one here tow with there 2.7 taco

I was selling my 89 toyota to buy a house. But my lovely soon to be wife saved me. God love her.

Aney way my 22re has ove 400k and its been worked hard. So not only did she save my truck but i got money to fix things up.

so im looking in to a 2.7 swap

but i was wondering how thay handel a small trailor

I've towed 2500lbs with my single cab bone stock 08 , it did well with the stick I say it was even better then my 2001 double cab auto with the 3.4.

the max I would tow is my tent trailor. I have towed it with the 22re but never verry far. i was just wondering how it would handel with a 2.7. lots of pepole say the 2.7 has much more power.

It's pretty grunty for a 4 banger. Even unloaded though I do 3rd gear on steep highway grades. Torque is all between 2100-3000 rpm.
With fuel prices the way they are, you can't beat it. And it seems to be very reliable.
A swap with a 22re might be tricky??

So easy as I now know, I'm KICKING myself for not doing it to my Runner. Talk to Marlin (of Marlin Crawler... did I need to tell you that? Sorry) and get on their boards to find more than one of these swaps into sever series of Mini trucks. I belive Marlin and his son BOTH are running this motor in their personal trucks.

from what I can tell from my mates 2.7 in his last gen Taco, this would be a KILLER motor in the older trucks. All the fuel economy of the 22RE with JUST more "umph" to get up those hills.

I love my 22RE, but I really wish I'd done the 2.7 swap (secondary to wishing I'd done the 1KZ-T swap )

As for towing, I'd not hesitate to tow reasonable loads behind it as long as your drivetrain/brakes/suspension can handle the load, with 5.29's you'd be fine.

ya im disk all around and have brakes on my trilor so all golden there. i have never even driven a 2.7 taco but every one says on the marlin board thatthis is the swap 2 do
