Resurrecting an old one here... has anyone ever figured this out? I'm building a sleeping platform for my XJ and would like the front passenger seat to fold forward against the dash in order to create more room. I'm only 5'9" but sleeping in the XJ requires me to extend my feet onto the center console lid (with my head at the rear). Sleeping diagonally across the rear limits the ability to stack gear as high on one-side of the vehicle's interior and precludes the possibility of two people sleeping inside.
I can work remotely, so I also imagine fashioning a little desk surface that I might hang off the back of the folded-forward passenger seat. That would allow me to sit in the more spacious rear of the vehicle and work at a "desk" when the sleeping platform is not deployed. One temporary, single-trip solution that I have imagined is turning the front seat around backwards. I know that sounds crazy, but if I'm on a solo ski trip in the winter, my evening down-time in the cab (it gets dark around 4:30PM) would be spent in the rearward facing passenger seat with tons of room at my disposal. Kind of like sitting in a living room... stretch your feet our, etc. While that works for solo trips, it isn't a reasonable solution for a pair. I'm going to mock it up just for curiosity's sake and I'll take some photos when I do.
