Hey all! This is my first post. I was invited to join this site by a member on here with a white econoline 4x4 with the diesel in it and a colorado camper van pop top(sorry bud, i dont remember your name)Long story made short, I have been a technition for about 10 years. I was introduced to the Astro at work and was impressed with roominess, power, the AWD off road capabilities. I have built MANY cars in my years of wrenching and so naturally, my mind starting started wondering...I stumbled across an astro specific web site... And within 4 months my wife and I bought a bone stock 2000 awd astro with leaking dutch door seals for a great deal. Unbeknownst to either of us, we had both secretly dreamed of camperizing a van and driving down to central America(like 2 guys 1 van). And since we are living in central Oregon, offroading and overlanding is very popular. So we sold our faithful Subaru outback and never looked back. Its has been about 8 months now since the original purchase and are loving every minute of it.

I had not heard of the place before but this site seems pretty cool and full of loads of information and resources so we would like to participate in some of the local area events. My build thread is on a different forum but I thought I would paste it up here as well for anyone interested. Thanks for looking.

Thanks! The van is mostly done besides some minor creature comfort addition. Its been good to us. We have spent about 40 days/nights in it since it has been camperized and although it could be a bit bigger (I am 6'2'') it has worked out great. I am always interested in peoples opinions and suggestions for the build.

I know I know. I know better then to say that, but there really isn't much else I want to do to it.

Off road, or even through corners he has zero grip on the wood and slides around like a Mustang on ice. So mostly he hates it, we find it hilarious. Luckily for him the wood floor is only 8 feet long and ends at the back of the front seats. The front section of carpet is still intact so as long as he is between the seats he is safe. The bed section doesn't move at all so he can go lay down on the bed if he wants but he likes looking out of the front window while we are driving.

That's a sharp looking van! You may have inspired me to continue working on mine, just so darn cold out!

Welcome to the site TurnNburn. Your awd van looks great and I can see that it is a capable rig that you are not scared to use offroad. Thanks for posting pics of your ride and your adventures. Looks cool. Cheers, Chilli..:)

The CJ front bumper looks great from the front - any other photos? Was it hard to mount?

What was your source on the swivel seat plate? I am looking for one and have been struggling to find one that I can afford with shipping cost.

Thanks!
