My goal was to buy/build a turbo-diesel, 4x4, manual transmission... Motorhome. Needle in a haystack. I can't afford an EarthRoamer... and I don't like Ford Powerstrokes. So, what I found was the Xplorer Xcursion. Xplorer built about 25 of these high-end Xcursions before going out of business and being sold. They are hard to find; even harder if you want manual transmission and Cummins diesel.

This is a 2001, 22.5' Class C built on a Dodge 3500 chassis. It was originally an auto-tranny 2WD... BUT it is now a 4WD 6-speed. It was converted professionally; though I did all the research and parts gathering.

NV5600 6-speed
NP241-HD transfercase
Dana 60 with 1-piece shafts
Suspension was increased about 2"

Rig has about 105k miles.
Very nice sized RV that you can squeeze into a regular parking spot.

Xplorer was sold to a new company... they aren't really making them anymore, but here is the marketing for them.

Very interesting some questions-
►What is the final drive ratio?
► Size of the tires
►Can I assume the axles are open
►Is there a pass through between camper and cab
►Has it been regularly driven
►Does the camper have AC
►Any solar or generator
►Type of heating system

Crawl ratio is 53:1

Yes

Yes

Yes. I am the second owner. The first put the majority of the miles on. I have driven it all over the east coast, cross country, western states and BC.
►Does the camper have AC
Yes. It has an AC with wireless remote and gents through the camper. It also has a nice furnace that is controlled by the same remote.
►Any solar or generator
Onan diesel generator; I want to say 2kW
►Type of heating system
Propane furnace

These were high end coaches new; with prices in the six figures. The seamless main she'll and aluminum skeleton makes them very well built.

was selling my house and moving... Now re-motivated to sell.
Had the RV up the 24 Hours of Lemons this weekend. Here are some thoughts:

The Good:
Runs amazing. 6-speed plus 6BT is unbeatable.
Upgraded steering and springs makes this handle great.
It's so easy to drive. It feels a lot skinnier than most Class C.
Rowing through the 6-speed with the diesel puts a constant smile on my face.
The bed is super comfy; lots of space (I'm 6'5")
It's quiet inside; the foam insulated body of the "house" really makes this thing comfortable.


The bad:
If you're over 6'3"... You can't stand up straight.
Couple pieces of laminate edge peeled
Tear in the shower curtain (looking for replacement).

I will be selling my 2001 25' automatic. Can I ask what price range yours sold for?

I believe he was asking about $55K or so. This was a very nice short Class C diesel and appeared to be well maintained with some nice modifications. Someone got a sweet rig.
