Dont see one of these setups everyday. I really would like this for short trips. You get a very dependable truck - 3.4 toyota is one of the best more modern toyota engines also fuel efficient especially with manual trans. Chinook gives you a pretty good living space.

Makes you wonder if they are within correct payload ratings though. Looks like some heavy wood on the interior finish.

Saw this on facebook marketplace as well and I thought it was pretty cool. Not sure about the price, but seems reasonable for something that unique perhaps?

seriously over loaded taco & 280K miles on that thing. Camper looks finished nice, but no thanks for $35K - still in Covid pricing on these types of things.

I was following a couple people on Instagram that had started swapping old Chinook shells onto newer pickups. One guy was using Tacoma’s, then maybe a T 100, and then I think he made the switch to tundras for the weight reasons previously mentioned. If you are going to add all the modern amenities to one of these old shells, I think having an increased load carrying capacity/GVWR would be best.

Here’s one, can’t remember the others. This guy stopped posting in 2019:

I'm sorry. That thing is AMAZEBALLS. True it's overloaded but swap out the axles and running gear and you have a really bada** truck.

This is rad. Besides the payload issues, I love seeing cool campers on the back of these toyotas!!

I'm as big a fan of the 3.4l as can be, but that's a lotta miles. Wish they would have started with a lower mileage chassis.
