2002 Isuzu Trooper advice!!

Hi there,

I came across a 2002 Red Isuzu Trooper with 114,000. It's a 4wd with 3.5L engine v6 engine. It has cosmetic issues, scratches and bumps but nothing major. It also has minor rusting.
He claims the transmission "growls", even though he put in a new tranny at 80,000 and the two oxygen sensors need to be replaced. He has all the service records.

He's asking $2500 but says the price is negotiable. Any thoughts? Is this a good price?

looks to be a fairly clean starting point, I have a 93 and love it, very capable off road with plenty of room inside, and they don't need much modification to get you most places you'll want to go. automatic transmissions can be a problem, the auto trans in mine started to act up, I changed the filter and topped it up with fresh fluid and its working fine. I don't think the PO had ever serviced it...
I believe the 4wd system changed in 96, I prefer the older system.

you don't list your area, but for CA that's not a bad price.

Ask if the truck had issue with oil consumption. Some 1999-2002 had issues with piston rings and would start burning oil as the engine got older.
Transmissions were 4l30 if i remember correctly, so your typical GM product and not very robust for this heavy truck. Otherwise they would go to hell and back. The rear suspension travel on those was insane. :Wow1:
