2002 Pathfinder 4wd Question

My dad has a 4wd 2002 Nissan Pathfinder with 117,000 miles on it. He has never put it in 4wd and is pretty sure that the previous owners (my grandparents) never did either; also, the transfer case and front differential oil have probably never been changed. He is concerned about using 4wd on a trip we have planned this weekend since he doesn't have time to get the oil changed before then. Should he be worried about this? Thanks for any info you all might have.

I would not be too worried about it, but I would test them out before you actually need them. Just find a dirt road, or field just somewhere that you can put it in and out of 4x4 and that everything works the way that it is suposed to.

Agreed it will be fine. A quick visual will tell you if you lost any of your front gear oil and the transfer case driveshaft seals should be relatively clean and oil free also.
