2003 Ford E250 Extended Cab Quigley Conversion
181k mi.
$2500 B/O
I picked this one up a little over two years ago as a work vehicle and planned to make it into a medium-duty expedition/camper. Plans have changed and it's up for sale.
About the van:
The good:
Recent work:
The bad:
So this is a project, preferably for someone with welding/bodywork skills. I would be keeping it, but only drive it 1-2 times a month and less than 1000mi. last year. The Quigley conversion alone is usually worth more than the asking price here, not to mention the remainder of the drivetrain.
If not sold here, it will go on eBay. I'd rather sell it to someone here and then watch their build thread!
Photos can be found below. Have more on Google Photos, but can't link here. For the sake of honesty, I tried to show the worst parts to give you a good idea of the true condition. Let me know what you think, if you have any questions, or PM me an offer. $2500 B/O

2003 Ford E250 Extended Cab Quigley Conversion
181k mi.
$2500 B/O
I picked this one up a little over two years ago as a work vehicle and planned to make it into a medium-duty expedition/camper. Plans have changed and it's up for sale.
About the van:
- 2003 Ford E250 Extended cab
- ~187k miles
- Second owner- Original owner used it as a work van to deliver and install full-carpets/rugs (needed an extended)- I have original window sticker
- Full Quigley 4x4 conversion at time of purchase, including 3.73 limited slip, 4x4 transfer case, suspension and mounts, manual locking hubs (full Quigley documentation included)
- Drivetrain: 5.4l V8, 4R70W/4R75W (I'd have to look at the documentation to be sure) 4 speed auto.
- Ford True Blue exterior
- Interior headliner and rubber floor- no insulation on walls.
The good:
- Purchased from the original owner. Was maintained by an independent 4x4 shop exclusively from day 1. I did get a detailed printout when I bought it at the shop two years ago. I could dig it up or put you into contact with them for a reprint. Excellent shop!
- Engine, drivetrain, brakes, etc. all in very good working condition. Engine runs as new, transmission shifts smooth with no hesitation, drives smooth with no pulling/vibration, etc.
- No check engine or any other warning lights
- Frame is solid, and the van passes NYS safety inspection. No frame welding or work should be necessary.
Recent work:
- New alternator this spring (didn't drive it in the salt last winter, so the brushes rusted!)
- All new rear brakes (calipers, pads, rotors) last fall for inspection.
- Complete transmission pan drop, filter and flush as of last week.
- I would feel comfortable driving this van any reasonable distance as-is.
The bad:
- In a word- rust.
- While the frame was sprayed at some point and is solid, the body has some obvious issues from years in upstate NY. Drivers side has been repaired recently so is in decent shape, the passenger side needs some work. I purchased patch panels last year, but did not get around to installing them. They are included in the sale (seen in pictures). I fully cleaned and metal-prepped the frame and undercarriage prior to taking pictures, and planned to POR 15. Scale is evident, but frame should not need any attention. Suspension/transmission mounts are all solid. Take a look at the pictures. There is no oil/dirt to get in the way of view of the frame- so this is an honest, worst case scenario look at the true condition.
- Steering wheel is not oriented forward. Van tracks perfectly straight and does not pull, but the steering wheel is oriented slightly to the left when driving straight. Did not bother me enough in the past two years to look into.
- Small power steering leak from low pressure return line. I noticed last year after driving it for a few thousand miles with it apparently leaking. I purchased both lines and a new pump, but have not installed them yet. They will be included in sale.
