2003 Unimog U500, 33k GVW, 280 hp, 8 driving gears, 8 working gears, central tire inflation, includes 3-way tipper box, current body can removed from vehicle without damage to orginial chassis, extremely well cared for, everything operates as it should. 6900 original miles, original build cost was quoted at 320k. Max driving speed is governed at 70mph.

I was doing pretty well with the list--thank you--but I'd never seen this one before:
m03--168hp engine option.

I suspect I should understand this, but I don't. Does this mean the truck engine has just 168 horsepower, instead of the more common 260 or 280? And if so, what would be the advantage of having a truck this big with 100 fewer horsepower than standard? Title and first post clearly say 280 hp.

I won't even ask about option, z68--sea conservation. :)

m03 was a weird one, I may not have it correct (I know that definition is correct, but maybe it was for an earlier generation unimog not this one) at any rate, it is something to do with the powerplant.

I assumed that the z68 was a prep for overseas shipment.

I went and checked out this truck today, very clean as you would expect for having 7000 miles.

If anyone can figure out how to convert the firetruck/service body into an expedition camper then it could be something really cool.
