My ScanGuage has been telling me every time I start my truck up that I have a Pending Trouble Code : P0442, which to my searching has brought up that my gas cap is not sealed all the way. I have triple checked that, and it's not the case. I have also read that it could a vacuum line in the engine. Maybe I should just buy a new gas cap. I understand that this Code won't affect the truck in a bad way. I am at a loss. Any suggestions????

The order of opperations isn't always what the code says. Example your code P0442 says gas cap not sealed. When you read the order of things to check in the FSM it may have number 1 as something else.

My 2000 FSM doesn't have that code. But all the related ones start with vacuum leak and then gas cap. Have you ever overfilled the tank and thereby running fuel done the vent line?

Your location says Colorado, if you're required to have an emissions done, you will find out quickly if your gas cap is bad, they test it and will fully fail your vehicle if the cap does not pass. I go through this every two years.

PO442 is EVAP system leak. Usually is the gas cap but not what the code means. You can try buying a new cap for cheap. There are also ways to test the charcoal sensor if you were bad about topping off the fuel. Smoke test will reveal any vacuum leaks. I was getting 441, 442, and 446. Smoke test revealed a leak around my fuel filler neck.
