Checked King's website, no UCAs. Must have been another site I was looking at that sold Kings with UCAs as a set. Been reading so many websites about this lately. Is that your Montero in the pic on their website?
Been reading through your threads. Just realized who you are. I've read a lot of your posts before while researching. Even had some of them copied to my notes from years ago. Glad to see you're still around!
I'm still leaning toward Kings, but I am very curious on how a Koni RAID 90-5443/88-5389 setup would do. Need to look more into that.
@ChrisCosta416 Found it. It was a set of TC UCAs paired with Kings on TCs website, not King. Ouch, though. Those are pricey! https://www.chaosfab.com/product/1999-2006-Mitsubishi-Montero-UCA-Coilover-King-Shocks-Complete-Kit

There is a company called Pajformance that makes uniball ones that might work too. But again you only need aftermarket upper control arms IF you get Kings.

Yeah, I've looked at their products. Tried contacting them about their subframe drop. Unfortunately, they only use Facebook, and I go out of my way not to. Something I am working to embrace a bit more, but sometimes change is more of a process than an event. :(

So... Reading through a lot more Montero threads, I have been realizing the connections between members and some member's links to different companies; Luso Overland, Adventure Driven Design, Total Chaos, Pajformance, etc. It is incredible how much talent is in this community. Hopefully, I can bring something to the table for us all as well.

Update, 5/17/24 - The first mod was a replacement cupholder tray from Luso! (https://lusooverland.com/VE-LO-M3-CUP) No pics at the moment, but will post them later.

Coming from the world of going fast, I decided to improve the Montero's power some before I add any weight. So, new exhaust. Buying a set of Wildcat headers and having the local exhaust shop I have always used fab a full dual exhaust. Not looking for loud. Would prefer it quiet as reasonably possible, so resonators, mufflers, etc. will be included.

I'll pull the intake manifold and throttle body, clean them up, inspect the butterflies, etc. Not certain of previous maintenance, so may replace plugs, wires, and whatever else I come across. Depends on how it all looks.

Action plan...

The first major mod will be 4.9 differentials ...if I can find them. Called around to about 20 junk yards. The very last one I called said they had a couple 2000-2002 Monteros that should still have diffs on them, but did not know which trims. Plan to stop by later today to check them out.

In keeping with the theme of, "While I'm at it..." Figure I may as well buy some Harrop lockers. Yes, plural, because why not put one on the front too? Reached out to ZUC. Unfortunately, Yoshi was enough for him. He wants to stick to only Toyotas. :( Seems like a great guy though. I'd definitely reach back out if I ever have a Toyota. May just attempt this myself. Doesn't seem overly complicated. (Said the person who has never attempted it.)

Axles - Emailed RCV. They are willing to make an axle set for us if we can get an order of 25+. Not likely, so may just go with cryo treatment and shot peening the existing units. Plan to do this with the diffs, so while I'm at it, might as well.

Well... that salvage yard only had a ~97ish SL and a Sport. While I was there, two of the employees, separately, told me there were 3 or 4 full-size, non-Sport models out there. But of course, neither myself or either of them could find them. Some manager-looking guy finally looked it up in their inventory database and it didn't show anything. Two hours walking in the heat, now I need a beer.

But all is not lost, I found some tires! Now just have to get a 36" lift and 36" subframe drop. Take that rock buggys.

One of the salvage yards told me about a website, car-part.com. It's a combined database of salvage yards. Found a 2002 Montero in Houston with differentials still available. Called the yard. They don't think they actually have it, but they're checking. Supposed to call me back.

Anyone here have 4.9s to sell?

Purchased the Wildcat Headers from Best Mufflers in Australia, +15 hour time difference. Going to try a dyno run tomorrow morning to establish a baseline.

Just finished up some dyno pulls at Alamo Autosports in Arlington, TX! It was great catching up with Brice! Excited to see he is still in the game.

Stock power at the wheels, three pull average:

2H: 186 HP, 190 Torque
4H: 145 HP, 155 Torque

I'll come back in a few weeks, after I do the intake and exhaust, and see what it does then.

Facebook is utter garbage and I would avoid it completely if I could but unfortunately its where the most active Montero groups parts and discussion groups are. Its a shame because forums like this are much better suited to these types of discussions searching for old information. I logged into FB for the first time in probably 10 years when I bought my Montero.

I found some Diamante 30M heads for sale. About $3,000 USD including shipping from Japan. Getting ahead of myself, but I may get them while they're available to be had. Don't want to spend that much money for them, but a 6G75 MIVEC with DOHC heads would be an awesome engine to have in a Montero.

Got an estimate back from Jet-hot about coating my headers and exhaust. Roughly $938. How would ceramic coated exhaust pipes be affected by cold water crossings?
