2005 Land Rover LR3 - Expedition Ready (on coils!)

Well, as many of you know, the economy sucks. I am forced to sell my all time favorite vehicle:

2005 LR3, 5 seater, 4.0L V6, 68,000 miles, expedition ready. $19,000. Many unusual (but factory) configuration features. Exceedingly rare. This vehicle is one of a handful of coil sprung LR3's imported into the USA. Click here for more info on its history (78kb PDF).

This truck is superbly comfortably as a daily driver (I average over 20,000 miles a year), however, this truck is also well equipped for serious off highway travel. Including a 2.5” suspension lift, air snorkel, hard mount on board air (Viair 400), off road driving lights, HID headlamp upgrade, full underbody skid plates (Rasta 4x4), full underbody rock sliders (Rover Specialties), black powder coated wheels, upgraded disk brakes, internal cargo barrier, roof access ladder, Hannibal expedition roof rack, upgraded jack, Cobra 75 WXST CB radio, custom CB antenna mount, custom iPod/iPhone charger/aux input, hardwired Magellan GPS unit, heavy duty cargo and floor mats, heavy duty internal tiedowns, dual underfloor storage compartments, dual concealed sidewall storage compartments, factory heavy duty washable seat material, heated windshield, heated seats (front and rear). Cooper Zeon LTZ 31.5” all terrain tires. I am also including a new Cooper tire mounted to a 5 spoke LR3 wheel, and a new Nitto Terra Grappler spare tire (unmounted), and FOUR additional Terra Grappler tires with about 50% tread remaining (6 tires total, plus what's mounted to the truck). Many additional accessories and parts included.

This truck has all the normal LR3 traction control and advanced braking systems (DSC, HDC, ABS, SRS, TC, etc…), but it does not have Terrain Control integration. This vehicle is far simpler mechanically and electronically, with reduced ECU integration compared to the normal LR3. Many consider this unique and special LR3 to be ideal modern vehicle for remote off road destinations where extended durability, comfort, and capacity is essential.

It is our sincere hope that the next owner of this vehicle will enjoy it as much as my family has. This Land Rover has changed our lifestyle in countless positive ways, opened new worlds, and provided adventures and memories my family will cherish forever.

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
Sorry about your situation.
I can vouch for Nathan, he's a standup guy, and this rig is very, very nice! I have been on several runs with Nathan and this rig is very capable.

I'm very interested. I live in British Columbia. My son lives in San Francisco. I would purchase it for him(he has a "99" landcruiser and does a awful lot of offroading in CA). How do you want to proceed?

Why don't you sell your Jeep and keep this?

What condition is the body in?

No TC Dial? (Kinda sucks...)

The Jeep is not mine, its my wife's, so there is no change to my ability to make my mortgage payments if we sell it.

The interior is a 9.9 out of 10, the mechanical condition is a solid 9 out of 10, the body is a 7 out of 10. Actually, the body is fine, its just the plastic trims and bumpers that show signs of use. They were painted by the factory, and the paint needs touch up in places. I always wanted to upgrade the bumpers to steel, but neither the ARB nor the Kaymar steel bumpers actually increase your approach/departure angles, and the factory bumper allows good angles anyway (better than a Discovery II), so I kept them. Very recently, Rovertyme and SafariGard have come out with new options, but I have not been able to make any major financial upgrades lately. I always figured that I could afford to replace the stock plastic bumpers several times each before it added up to the cost of a steel bumper. Towards that end, I have a new rear bumper (unpainted), ready to go, and have a buddy that has offered me a front bumper. So for the minor cost of painting, the new owner of this vehicle can have a completely pristine exterior if they wish.

Personally, it is my hope that whoever buys it will intent to use, and either will add steel bumpers, or not mind that the exterior is not 100% perfect. Here is an example of the what the current bumpers look like:

I contemplated doing some sort of Line-X treatment to the bumpers. They offer it in different colors, and white is available. But I was never sure I would like the result, and don't have the money now to do it anyway. It's an option the future owner can consider.

As for the Terrain Control, correct, it does not have the dial that integrates things. This truck has all the individual traction systems, but they are on/off as opposed to selectable...the result is that the driver needs to be more involved in deciding what to do, not the computer. As many people can attest, it has not been an issue.

Man that sucks - your wife gets to keep her car, makes you get rid of yours AND pay the mortgage? Either you like paying the mortgage all by yourself, you'd rather drive a Jeep or you just don't want the LR3 anymore...

Not sure if this is the thread to make a joke like that.

I loved seeing Nathan's LR3 out there on the trail. I've forwarded this thread to a few of my friends who are looking for an expo vehicle.

I'm gonna put on my moderator hat here and say that none of us has any right to judge his choices. He gave us more personal info than he had to and you should respect that he is putting family/home and staying out of debt ahead of a rig.
So if you like the rig, great..if you think it is too bad that he has to sell, fine. But please don't make comments like this which just rub salt in a wound.

Oh and the Jeep vs LR comments sounds a bit like brand bashing which isn't allowed around here.

I'm no Rover guy, but that LR3 is a beautiful machine! WOW. I love unique factory things too (I have a few cross-World-market things on my FZJ80).

Surely that is priced to sell, no?

I'll pass this along to some folks I know.
