Built out a mid load F350 LB diesel XLT $65,185. (Diesel option is $10,500). Agreed a beautiful truck. $15 k more and im only getting started on the build. 5 k for a deck, (dont want a slide in camper) Thuren or Carly suspension 3k ish long range tank 2k and lights. So for around 75k I have a new truck similarily built. But one of the big things with a 5.9 CTD if you want to travel to other countries, they dont require DEF or ultra low sulphur fuel. It will run on french fry oil. LOL.
The truck has advantages that a new truck Unfortunately cant offer. In saying that the truck was built for overlanding anywhere in the world. But if I have to explain this its not the truck for you. Plus your going to be waiting along time for a new F350 you can take home.

2020 5500. Awesome truck. Funny you mention a 5500. Im almost finished a build. Ram 5500, AEV flares full suspension, (custom springs nobody builds anything for it) wheels and tires from Stazworks and a deck. Thats 25 k. and 5 months. Then start to ad in lights, air, switches, cameras. Quality builds are extremely expensive and in this day and age, very difficult to get parts. Recoup 100 % ???. You dont see the value and I do. All good.

This is my build.. How much do you think it costs to build just the front of that truck? Lights (Warlock), grill (rebel look), black tradesman bumper with fog light cutouts, Rigid lights and custom mounts. All hardware powdercoated. and reassembled after bumper was sprayed with Linex Platinuim.... Not to mention The AEV flares. It sits again waiting for parts. Some parts I have been waiting 5 months with no guarantee on delivery date. Times have changed. I dont think you have any idea what a quality build takes... Oh bye the way the white part below the headlight needs to be black. Ill change that out.

NOW THAT'S A TRUCK! That other one for 50k? Looks great but overpriced by a good bit. Hope you have a build-up thread?? I haven't started one yet. I have a truck with some pretty heady changes. 2001 F450. Everything below the waste line is from a 2007:L suspension, axles, hangers, steering all rebuilt. Re-geared, buckstops, lockers the whole nine. Involved my truck, two donors (long story). Been working on it since December, longest wait was the flatbed which is being installed now. So yes I do have an appreciation for building a rig. I've been chasing parts around the continent for six months. AAAND I want you to be right, cuz if you are, I have a $75k rig.

I agree you do have a 75 k truck. The work and time on the computer alone ,sourcing parts. For alot of people they want to buy it all done. I feel if you have a quality built truck for sale its worth paying for. .. I saw some pics of your truck on another thread. Awesome build !!!!! Love 7.3s Unfortunately Ram didnt build a 5500 back in the days of the 5.9 and I need a 4500 0r 5500 for my camper build. If you want a popup or lighter weight camper and want to travel outside USA or Canada... IMO a older DEF free 1 ton truck is the way to go. You should see the tanks, wiring, pumps, heaters and ,hoses for the DEF system alone in my truck . Its absolutely crazy.
Im going to start a build thread on here in the next couple weeks. Have Fun!!!

Followed. I'll watch for that thread. You'd be surprised how much knowledge I've gleaned from all of the 5500 builds on this site. Good luck!
