Searched for a while to find a lower miles , pnw owned in good shape Silverado or Sierra . In all honesty I was looking for a 3/4 ton but couldn’t find in good shape with low miles that wasn’t a rust bucket east coast rig . Ended up finding this one owner 140k miles Sierra . Having a truck is so nice again I can throw all sorts of normal life stuff in the bed .59F239EF-0C18-4024-93D6-FEC7A66F5A68.jpeg

First couple months I owned it I just left it alone and drove it , got rather good mileage at 20/16 but the tires where just garbage on anything other than dry roads . Also the ride was junk due to for some reason I can’t understand the same lb rated torsion bars that come in a 3/4 hd diesel truck . F0F720BC-4134-40BD-AE77-A90212503962.jpeg

Having a open bed is great for tossing stuff in but here in the pnw fall - spring means rather wet days , was thinking about a soft roll up tonneau but my dad had a canopy off his old Silverado sitting in the back yard so I “ borrowed” it . Only problem being it was 8” to long so I chopped 4” off the front and back and reassembled it with lots of extra sealant . It’s not perfect but keeps the water out and will make a nice warm snow sleeper .4657D756-4200-420A-B6D4-CAA0F104E2F4.jpeg9709090C-B2B6-40EB-9184-AB48E19ECB5D.jpeg306F2103-E683-401B-8C91-497D3C8A20B5.jpeg74380C7A-9792-4530-8445-7A65AE6F13D4.jpeg

My tablet holder was half broke and I could of fixed it but didn’t really like where it was sitting so I made version 1.0 of a new one . *Cut out a chunk of oak that fit the hole
* put a rabbit around it to hold a couple thin strips to keep it centered and hold the rubber bands to keep it together .
*split it in half with a half circle to keep it from wandering .... I think
*used a step drill bit to make some holes in the back so as I tightened down the bolts it would expand and wedge itself in the hole that I have no idea what The purpose of it is.
Seems to hold so far but think I need to spend a little more time on sanding and fitment to make the tightening down a little smoother .276BE033-194C-46B3-8FD1-570B0798C39B.jpeg

I gotta admit I like the truck better without the canopy , might have to get a soft topper that way I’ll have the best of both worlds plus they make a nifty tent attachment for it09E8EDF0-1092-4E66-B6F0-A147180797D1.jpegC1482F6A-C9F9-45AB-BDF3-BF38E0571033.jpeg

I’ve slept in canopy’s plenty in my lifetime and like the truck tent idea but need a canopy some days for work so I like the versatility of the soft topper canopy being able to fold it down when I need more room in the bed .

Headed up to go find a creek to sit by in the snow have a fire and enjoy a couple hours of peace and quiet. In my laziness because we weren’t driving that far off of a plowed road I did not air down which was a huge mistake ended up taking an hour and a half to shovel outs of this horrible concrete spring snow. Sometimes hard to judge exactly how deep the snow is when you’re making fresh tracks on the way in.Once we got unstuck and I air down the trip The rest of the way in and back out was a lot easier
