Awesome thread, great build, love your truck. 100s will always be one of my favorites, I remember seeing them new on Toyota lots in high school and wanted one so badly. I love my LR4 but I always think about these.

OWL Expedition Media Mount

I hate tearing into the dash. But the youngest and I recently completed a 100 mile turn by turn Rally and I decided I needed a more permanent mount for the iPad then my son’s lap. The instructions on website
https://owlexpedition.com/products/media-mount-1998-2007-lx470-and-land-cruiser-with-nav are not specific to a 2006 Land Cruiser. My vents are all one piece and I pray each time I pry them off they don’t snap in two.
The mount is sturdy and well thought out. The holes lined up perfectly. And the finish on the nub that extends past the front of the deck is perfect. Actually the finish on the whole thing is perfect. You just can’t see it to appreciate it.

The fasteners on the side of the tape deck are 8mm. And for mine, there is a hidden fastener in the center of the lower fascia that is shown in the last photo.

Maybe Mud is a better place to post this up, but had the OEM windscreen replaced today. I picked up a stone from a log truck during our Canada trip and the crack had now migrated more than a third of the way across from the passenger side.

OEM windscreen out showed very little corrosion and it was at the rivet points. New PGW windscreen is riveted in as well.

Carefully. The outer trim snaps into place covering the rivets. I did not find it to be a best design

The local REI hosts Rigs and Coffee the 2nd Saturday each month. I stopped by to help a friend set up his ARB awning with awning room for the first time.

Overall I am very pleased. I recently powered the fridge for 4 days and the battery still showed 60% charge. Battery charges relatively quickly and the Bluetooth app for monitoring the system is fun to mess with.

Nice thing is that the install of the 100ah mini with the terminals facing the rear of the truck allows for significant storage yet under the wing. My Eno nest set up and the Nemo Cosmo 3D both fit. Te terminals are protected by the back trim plate. A footmans loop attached to the drawer frame secures the battery strap.

Started working on this. ARB CMKA12 mounted to the Owl Expedition, well, mount. Took a minute to figure out what needed to be relocated on Moose and found it wasn’t much.

The alarm horn ticks in behind with a little tweak and the resistor bolts to the provided extra bracket. Supplied hardware was spot on.

Finished up the ARB compressor install. I dismantled the harness and removed the turquoise and yellow wires that control the locker solenoids, cleaned up the power and ground leads and routed around the engine bay to a newly installed 40 amp breaker. The red wire that is attached to the pressure switch is all you really need to pass thru to the cabin if on board air is your sole objective.

I passed the red wire through the driver side footwell grommet, stole 12v switched power from the driver side rear window switch via a Scotch Lock connector, and dialed it all in with the diff lock switch to trip the relay. Pics. Always pics

Expo Mtn West. Great time. Cool venue. Several really neat LC to look at. We decided to just chill and hang with new friends and old.

I’ve been wanting to up my game when it comes to rear hatch lighting for cooking or just hanging out. For several years I have been using a bicycle seat post lamp that is attached to the rear lift gate handle. It charges with a sub-mini and provides a nice warm red glow. But life if limited to a few hours.

I have been looking for another option and was set to hard wire a rock light or clearance light. While at Mountain Expo I was surprised to see so many using rechargeable led strip lights in their trailers or campers. No need to drill holes or run wires or, for me, dismantling all the trim around the rear window and rear hatch to run permanent wiring. So I found these.

I utilized the supplied metal brackets with 3M double back tape to secure the strip to the rear glass, at the same height as the rear wiper blade. This way if I what to remove it I am cleaning the glass, not the plastic trim. Lots of light


And if you walk away from the truck, the motion sensor will kill the light if you have it set to that mode…. All the better for fewer bugs!
