One-of-a-Kind Expedition Camper – Ready for Your Next Adventure!
Looking for a camper that can take you anywhere—from rugged backroads to subzero winters—while keeping you completely self-sufficient? This custom-built 2007 Ford F-550 Hot Shot Fire Crew Truck (a former “buggy” from Safford, AZ) is unlike anything else on the market. Built with durability, functionality, and independence in mind, this is the rig for those who don’t just want to camp—they want to explore.
I purchased this truck with only ~70k miles and spent 7 months building it out with the help of Technique Vehicle Outfitters in Bend, OR. Having lived full-time in an EarthCruiser for 4 years, I knew what worked, what didn’t, and how to design a rig that truly thrives off-grid. From the robust electrical system to the heated water setup, every feature has been carefully chosen for comfort, reliability, and ease of use.
After living in an Earthcruiser full time for 4 years, there were some design features that I wanted to improve upon and implement in this vehicle. Primarily, a more robust electrical system, plumbing system and air compressor.
I have the set of the original dually Wheels and tires. I am happy to include these with the sale. I get about 1 more MPG with these on and are good for highway trips or forest roads. Truck gets 10-11 on the big tires and 12 MPG on the dually setup.
The truck has been super reliable and a lot of fun. I have had no issues with it since getting the even injectors replaced (one was failing, so replaced all even ones because the labor is so intense) shortly after getting up to Bend, OR. All of the lights and PA still work! I have summer and winter camped and its plenty warm at sub zero temps. With no AC, you open the back door and turn on the fan and at least there is a breeze. Or open the sunroof hatch and the cool air comes in right over you while you sleep.
Selling due to a recent divorce and needing the cash. Feel free to reach out with questions or if you need more pics.
