Very exciting. I actually stayed up tonight to wait for the embargo to be lifted. I would still much rather see pictures of the upcoming four-door model.

For a very thorough rundown, check out Jrations.

looks like it is a targa top in the pics. Why the hell do the fender flares go forward of the grill, that looks gay to me. Out side of that it looks mostly the same except for all that additional plastic. I will never understand why jeep continues to put plastic on the exterior of those vehicles.

Looks pretty decent. Yeah, not sure about those front fenders though.

Looks like the PFD's have become larger, too.

Is it just me or does the wheel base appear shorter?

I like how the rear seats now have head rests and it looks like more legroom too. Great for passengers! I would also like to see the 4door model, is that going to be diesel?

That's sharp. I think that the panel top beats a rag top any day of the week. Did anyone notice the rock slider-like dealy-bobs on the sides? Like here:

Think they are steel, or just some plastic eye-candy?

Cheers,

Look close how the TOP looks like it's a ...."Two Piece"......!

......or maybe even a "Three Piece".....now I'm also seeing a line along the center of the front 1/3 running front to back. Could this just be for easier storage of the front piece......or can you just take the piece off above your head too if you want.

Interesting!

Diesel was not announced - only the 3.8 V6, and that they dropped the 4 cylinder. I don't think a diesel Wrangler is in the foreseeable future, but we can hope for it in future model years.

One of the selling points of the original Rubicon package was rocker armor. Unless that is no longer unique to the Rubicon, I would speculate that they are steel - but possibly with a plastic overlay. I could be wrong, but I would hope that they continue to armor the Rubicon model.

I've got more where that came from.

I'm curious as to how the modular top is going to work on the larger four-door. I'm also curious as to what kind of load the top panels can bear. This setup is very cool, imo.

Sadly, the legacy of the Dana 35 endures! :(

EDIT: But Rubicon model is 44, and tow package provides 44.

EDIT EDIT: "All three axles (Dana 30, 35 and 44) are wider, of course, to match the wider body of the Jeep. The Dana 44 is actually upgraded so much that the engineers really wanted a new name for them. One Jeep rep. even suggested that it should be a "Dana 45," but of course, at this time it is not. The gears are larger, the pinion is larger and the shafts are now 32 spline instead of 30 spline. Rubicons still get a similar locker, though it is a bit larger than the TJ's." - Mike Cohn, Rockcrawler.com

Hi, I'm so and so. I have a great house in a great neighborhood. I have a wonderful wife and three kids. Like my car? It's new. I'm even a member of the local golf club. How do I do it? I'm in debt up to my eyeballs. Somebody help me!

Yeah, it occurred to me later that these photos are of the Rubicon, and the current Rubicon version comes with the diamond plate rocker guards. There is probably a good chance that the "regular" Wrangler does not have the slider/guard. If that thing is steel tube, I find that a significant improvement over the diamond plate rocker guard.

That top system is the ********. You can go bikini, sun-roof style, etc. That is just plain cool.

They look like steel b/c they are a different color black than the plastic fenders. I would guess they would all match if it was just trim?

Neat pkg I will have to test drive the 4dr

Oh I take that back, it looks like they are the same 'black' as the bumpers...could be plastic...
