The Earthroamer.com web site has a listing for a 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited that has been converted to 5.7L V8 and and upgraded with lots of AEV pieces. Earthroamer added the XV-JP camper body. The vehicle has less than 5,000 miles. Asking price is $94,500.

The vehicle is listed on the Earthroamer home page, http://www.earthroamer.com/
Scroll down to see the listings of used Earthroamers for sale. Photos of the vehicle are here

Hey, look, it's my truck with flashy wheels and very nifty engine. :)

If anyone is thinking about buying this--the price is pretty fair, given that it was probably over $150K retail--and you have questions, feel free to PM me. XV-JPs are one of my dwindling number of areas of expertise.

Mike

ALSO: While you're at the website, notice that you can have XV-JP 006 (in white) with the stock V6 and 28K miles for $65K. Given that there's not much over a dozen of these things around, having two for sale at the same time is pretty interesting.

Too bad they didn't swap in a turbo-diesel instead of the Hemi to make it more efficient.

A Hemi swap can be done with a possibility of emission legality (depending on your state), since the engine is emission legal in other platforms. There aren't many good possiblity emission legal choices for a diesel swap, and they'd have to come from another brand which makes meshing the electronics difficult if not near impossible. The diesel engine in foreign JKs wouldn't be legal since its not emission certified in this country.

Makes sense, thanks!

there is that company doing VW TDI swaps into jeeps. Seemed pretty sweet.

I think one of Hackney's interesting comments was that he regreted not making sure everything he did on their rig was in metric to match the cab/chassis.

I dont like the idea of having (2) sets of tools for the same vehicle.
