2008 Unlimited Rubicon *For Sale*

As much as I hate to, I'm prepared to part with my beloved 2008 Unlimited Rubicon. This baby is fully loaded, fully serviced, and is definitely a head-turner. It has approximately 75,000 miles on it, and has been regularly serviced and cared for meticulously. To give full disclosure, the ONLY reason I'm selling this Jeep is because it's not powerful enough to tow an off-road trailer for hundreds of miles on end through some crazy terrain. Because of a recent trip, the transmission is currently being rebuilt under warranty, and I don't want to tear this Jeep up. If you're looking for a vehicle that is built and ready to go anywhere (without towing a bunch of camping gear long distances) this is definitely the Jeep for you. The only pictures I currently have are shown below, and the Jeep is currently getting the transmission rebuilt under warranty (should be back in my possession 5/18), so I can take more pictures when I get the Jeep back. These pictures do not show the current roof rack.

A list of the goodies:
Factory Nav system w/ lockpick (enables video to be played while in motion, iPod connection, and bluetooth voice)
Power windows/door locks
Gobi Ranger roof rack (the absolute best rack made for Jeeps)
Hella lights (4 front, 2 rear)
Rampage winch bumper (front)
Warn 8,000Lb winch
Rock Hard bumper/tire carrier (rear)
Pro Comp 7089 18" wheels
GoodYear Wrangler Duratrac 34" tires (approximately 12,000 miles)
Towing package with 7pin harness and Tekonsha trailer brake system
K&N cold air intake
Superchips Power Programmer
Rhino-lined interior
3.5" Rough Country coil spring lift
Rancho RS9000 adjustable shocks
Relocated evap canister
Magnaflow exhaust system
Enlarged rear storage compartment (that I haven't had time to install)
Tailgate MOLLE storage system
Homelink rearview auto-dimming mirror

That's all I can think of for now, but there's easily $15,000 worth of extras. Blue book value is $23K-$26K, asking $28,500.
This Jeep is in amazing shape, and I would keep it if I didn't need something with a little more power. It's been all the way to Key West, and throughout Colorado, to the East Coast, and everywhere in-between. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to take this vehicle anywhere, anytime.

Thought about a Hemi upgrade? You would have a new engine and trans (if you went with AEV, JSS, Burnsville) or a low milage engine and trans for between $10k (do it yourself) and $20k (turn key.) That would seem to be the most economical way to go since you wouldn't take the bath selling it...

BTW, I am a very satisfied and happy JKU Hemi owner.

Yep, I've thought about it, but there's no way I could afford that right now. I've thought more about a supercharger, but that's a little out of range too. However, I can sell the jeep and buy a late 90s / early 00s land cruiser and drop my current payments.

Goodluck on the sale. I would suggest parting it out as best you can. You may have a lot of money in parts but unless you find someone who wants your jeep exactly as it is it will be very hard to get your asking price.

I'm gonna try to sell it as it sits for now. If I can't get it sold, then maybe I'll consider parting it out.

I'm considering buying or building an offroad trailer (the AT Horizon, for example). I also have an 08 Rubi but am wondering how heavy your trailer is and what kind of off roading you've done with it. Can you give me some hints? I don't want to do the Hemi swap or SC either, but don't want to rag out my JK pulling a trailer. BTW, I have 5:13's and 37" tires.

Thanks for any info you can give.

My trailer probably weighs 1200lbs loaded. It's not real heavy, but I guess it's an awkward strain Offroad. I haven't done any hardcore offloading...nothing that really even tested the suspension on the trailer. You'll probably be fine with a smaller trailer and 5.13s. When I go out, I'm also loaded with my buddy and 3 HUGE labs, so that adds another 600lbs to the jeep.

Are you keeping the trailer?

Care to tell me about it?

Yep, I'm definitely keeping the trailer...unless someone wants to pay me about $15,000.
It's a Sherpa II, made by Outlander trailers in Sheridan, AR. I think their website is still down, but you should still be able to find their contact info in a search.
It's outfitted with a rooftop tent, generator, propane for the weber Q grill, a yeti cooler, and plenty of storage for all my gear.
Robert can customize it however you like. I love my trailer!
