I use my truck for lots of stuff; firewood, gravel, etc…so I leave a plastic liner in for shock protection. I do have a rubber mat on top when I load the TC. We have travelled all around the country like this and have yet to loose the camper out the back!
To be honest; the camper doesn't move much at all.

We use frame mounted TL's…but some of the Guys who do a lot of off road travel prefer HJ's because the bed will flex with the TC.
Using TL's off road, you may have to loosen the chains a bit.
They are both proven systems…
Great info. Thanks. I like the sounds of HJ tie downs as I will be mostly off road and having the flex/articulation is key. I also like the idea of the rubber mat. I currently have one back there just to keep stuff from sliding to the front of the bed/topper. pain in the butt to crawl in there and get something that has slid to the front. I am keeping my fingers crossed it doesn't sell before I can seal the deal.

Ask if you can put a cash deposit contingent on obtaining finance for balance...ask if he'll give you 30 days (or?).
He'll have it sold, and you will have some time...
Worst he can do is say no!
Oh yeah...bring the Wife by and show her how comfortable it is compared to a tent; bed/bath/stove...she'll be sold in no time!

Good luck, B

This looks very clean, although I would check the flooring under the installed aftermarket floor tiles. The wood floor is easier to keep clean.

As a reference point, I purchased a used 2012 TC650 in December last year, and paid $12,000. It included all the above standard options you list, including the scissor steps and the fast guns. Mine also came with a full camper cover (although I don't think I will ever use that).

Before we purchased this used, we also looked at new, but it worked out about $18k once you figure the extras. The local dealer advised removing the plastic bed liner, which we did, and installed a Line-X spray-in together with a rubber mat.

Well guys looks like we are switching gears and setting our sights on a pop up tow behind. There goes my TC650 plans for now. I found this 2008 Fleetwood Cobalt. It has a raised suspension and is 4k instead of 12k. Got to start somewhere I guess. My wife has convinced me that this will better suit our needs (and budget) for now. Thanks for all the input though. Happy trails!

Good luck.

Lot's of Folks start with pop-up trailers...an inexpensive way to get off the ground!

I won't be surpised if you come back asking about TC's sometime in the future though...I had the bug...and my Family sure is glad I showed up with one a few years back!

Anyway, have fun, safe travels, and enjoy what you have now...
(p.s. Your Wife sounds like a smart Woman...don't get yourself in debt over toys...living beneath your means=more flexibility to enjoy life/travel)
