2010 4Runner vendor support?

Local dealer has a Trail Ed. and I am so very impressed

I'm seriously considering side lining my long romanced about to be actualized dream of a kitted Defender 110.

I spoke to Yota service and they said they could replace the slide tray with 2 rear seats which is required for the kiddies

so i will need a full length, not 3/4, full length rack, and some body protection

how's it looking for vendor support?

thx!

I like the look of the Trail Edition 2010 Runners much better than the Limiteds or SR5s.

Buy it ! - the vendors will come.

Or offer yours up for some R&D to one of the smaller vendors and get a deal.

I want to keep it as stock as possible, so maybe some kind of modest winch set up, like a Land Rover a-bar kind of thing - recovery point and winch

the body protection is key, a FULL length rack is a must. I like arb and baja but the racks are short in my opinion. the 4Runner has a long roof line for plenty of gear

of course a CB, secondary fuel tank, and that should do it, pretty straight up. In fact I'd forgo the winch for a good shovel, and some bridge ladders - at least for awhile :ylsmoke:

AZTRD Can you share the love ( pics )

congrats!

I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to reliability and a real warranty. I love Land Rovers ( 3 Discos since 1997 ) but I could probably qualify for a 12 step program on $$ abuse! :costumed-smiley-007

we still have a '04 D2 - my dealer told me it is the nicest 04 they service. The check engine light came on last week which turned out to be nothing, just the gas cap, and I asked them to thoroughly explore the truck, engine, everything, etc. they said it is perfect, I replied "you couldn't find ANYTHING, not one thing that needs work or wrong?" It was then that I knew, I was in a codependent abusive relationship :coffeedrink:

I don't know what all is behind the bumper, but I wonder if it would be possible to fabricate a winch mount that used the lower opening in the bumper and allowed you to install a winch in the stock bumper. I'm thinking of something similar to what Lucrum did for the FJ Cruiser.

If it looks like that might work and you're interested you may want to contact Chris at Lucrum and see if he'd be interested in designing something for this application.

thank you, he does really nice work

the winch would be the last purchase and the most worrisome for me. I do believe they are invaluable, but they can be very dangerous and with kids around not to mention winter salt and upkeep etc. I am reluctant. I have not been in a situation on my own that could not be solved with a shovel, bridge ladders, a little time, and patience

don't get me wrong, if I was on my own and lived in AZ or something I'd be all over it and I may pursue it if and when I go to an environment that requires it - central America, etc.

for the most part we will be hitting lots of wide open spaces, some Dino digs, beach sand, rocks, long high mile off road routes, etc. the weight of the winch and it's required accessories is far more than some ladders. the shovel comes anyway and some roll up tracks can be useful as well with minimal space.

the purchase will come at the end of the year, I think that is the best time to buy. There are 3 TE for sale that I know of within an hours drive

they game us a $8K trade in price on our Disco which isn't bad but . . .

ARB is currently developing the full product line for the 2010 4Runner

Not that I'm doubting you, but based on my face-to-face contact, people at ARBUSA in Renton have told me point blank that they are doing an air-locker and that's it. I offered mine up for fitment and testing and I got the brush off, as their engineers are in AUS where the 2010 4Runner isn't offered. Where did you get your information?

To the OP: Icon has a suspension set-up, a few people have rockrails/sliders in some stage of design/production, but due to the differences between the trim lines things like roof racks and winch mounts have not yet been sussed out. I'm looking at a platform/roof rack for my TE but at this point I expect I will be going a custom route through a local fabricator.

The lack of aftermarket support for the TE has been frustrating to say the least.

I would venture to say that Steve has 1st hand knowledge.

That is good to hear, but it implies they did a complete 180 in less than a month. I'd just like to see something official before I sink money into something else.
