Looks like I'll choosing a fairly unique path.

Starting with a super clean 2011 pro4x I picked up in March 2021. I got a great deal on it which helps, tundras are very popular in the Southwest to the point that I cannot stomach spending what it takes to pick up a good one then go use it!

The wife has decided this is going to be our family thing so she's all in on buying the name brand equipment.

So far the build is pretty basic (if not expensive):

-Leitner ACS rack
-Leitner XL and regular pods
-maxxtrax
-ikamper skycamp 2.0
-waterpod
-some led strip lights in the bed
-vaair portable compressor
-a bunch of camping gear (most of it we already had)

Plans for the future:
-battery pack and solar panels
-Fox 2.0s
-hitch mounted spare
-winch
-lights

The Titan seems like a great base to start with, at least for a full size, I'm surprised how few there are. Definitely a bit of a challenge to find model specific hardware though. My plan is to adapt tundra hardware where I can.

Cheers and happy exploring!

The important things are out there. I've owned quite a few Toyotas and am also surprised there aren't more Titans. Toyota's have plenty of their own problems and typically will have way more miles than a comparable alternative.

Cool truck!

There's a decent amount of support for the Titans out there, just depends on what you're looking for.

Bumpers: Coastal Offroad
Suspension/Bumpers: CJD Racing
Performance Parts: Z1 Offroad

Great suggestions! I actually know the guys at Z1 several my ex-APR (Audi/VW performance brand) colleagues went there.

That's true all the important things are there, just would be nice if there were a few more options :). That said I'm totally ok with what I have and the existing options. I picked up this mint pro4x w/ 120k miles for $18k early Q2 2021, there were no 4wd crew max tundra's in the southwest for anywhere near that. $25k with 200k+ miles were what I was finding, if you wanted something with lower miles it was more.

That said, I did have to replace cracked mainfolds on the titan, but that was the only thing and I put some JBA shorties with stock cats (Carb Legal) and shouldn't have to do that again :).

Looking good! i've always liked the way the Titans looked.
I agree, for the time when they were competitive, I think the gen 1 Titan had a unique look and a unique interior compared to the competition.
