2012+ Fuso FG Recent Recalls

I just had two recalls done on my 2015 FG at the Fuso dealer. Thought I would mention them here if others have not heard of them yet. I assume this applies to all 2012+ Fuso with the duonic transmission.

The first about installing an Duonic ATF filter. The had to order the specific part.
Claim code: 238H.
Part: KT22202b FILTER KIT, DUONIC, EG

The second was a little strange. It was an free oil change to full synthetic 5w-30 oil. It included a filter change. I asked the dealer what the recall was about and their answer was that the Mitsubishi engineers determined that the 5w-30 oil helped with a timing belt issue they were seeing. Apparently they have not been doing the recall oil swap for very long, and when I asked if Mitsubishi required the continued use of 5w-30 I was told no but they do recommend it.
My dealer used 5w-30 Full Sync Chevron PJ4. Apparently 5w-30 PJ4 is what is important but I can't find anything on PJ4 online.

As soon as I got the truck back I get a safety recall notice about a fuel line issues. The fuel line could expand and come loose and needs to be replaced. My dealer did not have the new hoses yet.

I am curious if other people have had this same 5w-30 oil recall and what their dealer explained the change in oil was supposed to fix.

A while back I checked to see if there were any recalls on my Australian 2010 FG84 and could not find one.
Maybe Fuso built their trucks better then... ;)

I can't put my hands on the paperwork at the moment, but I thought they did 4 or 5 recalls on our 2014. I'll try to remember to check the truck this weekend.

I also just received the fuel line recall last week.

I probably misheard, but I made him repeat it twice and swore he said P. CJ4 is what the manual asks for so I thought it might be something different. He also said they had a heck of a time finding 5w-30 that met that specification, which struck me as odd since autozone has 5w-30 CJ4 in more than one brand.

I've seen Howard post about the tranny flash (starts the tranny in 1st gear). I got a notice on my cold weather kit EGR heater, the fuel line, and something else I cant recall. I haven't been in yet. I'm going to have them flash the ECM for my new tire size at the same time to save money. Good to know about the tranny filter and oil.

The trans re-flash is at least a couple of years old. Trans line is a year or so old, current recall campaign is for the fuel line, and the "free oil change for spring" hehe.

Curious -- Do you guys all live near cities with Fuso dealers, or how do you deal with the recalls? We have a Toyota but closest dealers are about 3 hours away, I just cringe when we get a notice.

I live in Charlotte. There is a Mitsubishi heavy truck dealer and service center on the north side of town. They seemed pretty cool the one time I was there.

Fetched the paperwork out of the truck. The list of recall work was:

1. EEC Reprogramming
2. Engine Protection System
3. Duonic ATF Contamination
4. Inline fuel filter side tank
5. Duonic ATF filter installation

necropost time!

Has anyone else not gotten the cold weather recall notice?

I'm in California, and for some reason (I'm not getting answers from FUSO NA, so far), it seems my truck isn't "qualifying" for the recall. Is there anyone else in California that's gotten a cold kit recall on their truck?

update...

Well, I managed to get an update from FUSO as to what's happening with the cold weather kit for my truck, and I'm supposing others.

The cold weather campaign will be part of the turbo/dpf/pcv/ecu campaign. They're still staging parts, but apparently the newer trucks are going to be dealt with first, then the older trucks. I asked what the reasoning was behind this, seeing as how I have an older 2012 truck, and the reply was that the newer trucks will need fewer mods and will therefore be done faster. Older units will take more mods.

For my 2012, I'm still looking at the fourth quarter of 2017, and if I don't get a notice to give FUSO a call this Fall.

There goes the Alaska trip this year. Not gonna happen.:(
