2012 Seat discomfort

I have a 2012 jku with 28k. The driver seat is so uncomfortable and it makes my back and bottom hurt just driving 15 min. The weird thing is the passenger seat doesn't cause any of these problems. I've had other people drive for long distance and they all say the same thing. Does anyone else have this issue and what have they done?

Some fixes I've heard but haven't tried
-M.O.R.E. Dead pedal
-putting washers under the front bracket on the seat rails

I've put 26k (miles) on my JK, half of which came from 3 trips south. I've never really had any complaints about the drivers seat. No mods done to the seat.

I have this issue too. Try to adjust the seat height and adjust the back. It may feel a bit strange at first, but sitting higher than usual may allow your pelvic gurdle to rotate forward more and relieve the tension on the lumbar spine.

Ive had this problem, however I am a bit bigger than your average bear at 6'5 tall, 260lbs. I find that adjusting the seat height a bit higher as the seat wears in seems to be a bit more comfortable and less strain on your back.

Some sort of lost...
6' here and I have the same issue. However I have neck and back problems so most cars suck.
The seat needs a tilt feature for sure. I may try to tilt mine back as well but then my short wife really couldn't drive it (not that she ever does)...

The best seats I've head we're all in my VWs. 86 van, 03 Jetta and 2010 golf TDI. I can drive the TDI comfortably until it needs fuel, and it has a nearly 600 mile range.

I just had back surgery earlier this year so I'm pretty sensitive to this. However, no real complaints with the seat (other than the stupid thing squeaks already). Try to sit more upright with good posture and see if that works. For the cross country drive I had a really small pillow to put in the small of my back from time to time (just to change it up) for those 3100 miles and that helped a good bit.

For reference I'm 6'7" and 230.

Best seats ever? The recaro sport seats in all of my E30 BMWs over the years.

6'1" and 240 lbs and I don't mind my seats at all in my 2012? That's one of the things I like about the car. I do sit pretty upright. Not sure if that would make a difference or not?

I hate the seats in my 2012 as well.

Issues: Too hard, they put pressure on the underside of my thigh because the front edge of the seat sits too high. This gets really annoying. Don't even get me started on the headrests!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I rarely drive it any more. I prefer to drive a crappy 1984 Chevy 3/4 ton truck, which has a bench seat in it.

I've thought about installing some flat washers under the rear mounting feet of the seat, to give it a slight tilt forward to drop the front of the seat some.

in my 06 lj I had the same issue. front edge of the seat would dig into the back of my legs horribly. 6'2" 275 . SO I made some 1" tall spacers and put them under the rear mounts of the seat. It does seem to help a ton.

...front edge of the seat would dig into the back of my legs horribly. ....

That's exactly what happens to me. 5'9", 170 lbs.

I have the seat set fairly high, so I don't have to hold my arms so high up to reach the steering wheel. I actually have to drive with my left foot back near the seat, because if I stretch my left leg out, then the pressure begins.

THis is what I've been driving recently: (old school bench seat)

First and best mod on my 2012 was a M.O.R.E. Dead pedal. Helps with long range driving comfort, not sure if it will solve your back issue.

X2, had the dead pedal on my 08 JKU and it's the first thing I order for the 14 JKU I just picked up the other night. As for the seating position, I'm 6'3'' 270lbs and actually have the seat raised about halfway to be comfortable. I have severe arthritis in my lower back and hips so comfort is a big deal, never would have thought I'd need to raise the seat for that! one thing I've learned in any vehicle I've owned, modify to make it comfortable before you do anything else.
