Transferring the kit from my rover to the new x and I am looking for ideas on where to mount a Cobra 75, I would like to use the fender mount I have as well so is there a place to run the coax in the firewall?

Also looking for a place to mount a 2.5 pound Fire extinguisher, I figure I will mount the small Kidde one under my seat.

I will me getting the headache barrier from 4x4parts but am looking for rear cargo area storage ideas so if you have something please show it.

Oh and is there anyway to lock the roof storage area? Looks like a good place for a tow strap etc.

Looking to make a road trip from NE Texas to the smokies end of Jan and really want to get the rig set up by then. So any other X tips are appreciated

Not sure if I can swing the 450 pound Alcans by then or not.....they state 3-7 weeks delivery time, does anyone have experiecen here?

Here is my set up for rear cargo storage....

This setup allows me to store tools, spare parts, etc without them rolling around. I put large plastic storage bins like action packers on top ane that gives me easy, organized access to a ton of stuff. Those store tents, food and the like.

I know people replace the handle on the roof bin with a locking version from Southco but havent done it myself. I suggest tou google xterra locking cargo bin.

To mount the CB, you've got a number of options. Personally, I'm running a NGP Firestik, so I've got the antenna mounted to the top of the roofbox. However, a fender mount would work. The easiest place to run wiring into the cab is around the steering shaft grommet. There's enough space to the left (as you're facing the firewall from the engine) to use an awl to help push the wiring through. There's a wiring loom running across the top of the firewall that you could wiretie the cable to as well (assumes you're using the front fender to mount it). If you're using the rear, then you can run the wiring through and down the body work. For this I'd suggest that headliner is the best place to stuff it. Just be careful of the side curtain airbags when you're doing that.

As for mounting, I've got mine shoved in the little cubby behind the gear shift. It's wedged in, but hasn't moved even when I've hit the trails in Moab.

I know you have a Cobra 75, but here's where my mid size CB is located

I do t have a picture but I mounted my 2.5" fire extinguisher on my drivers A-pillar but that WILL NOT for the later model second generations since they have an air bag there.
